Favorite Final Fantasy Protagonist

My favorite is Tidus. I ain't putting the one from Final Fantasy 1 just because not much is known about him. Lighting couldn't fit in since I can only put 10.

Well, in overall I think I would pick Auron. What a badass!!!
I also liked the concept of Vivi a lot!
But I picked Cloud in the end :P

It was a hard choice for me. I wanted to choose Cecil, just becuase he is so AWESOME, and that he goes from dark to light. I also wanted to pick Terra, becuase FF VI was the first one I played, she semed so sweet and innocent, and the memory thing, yet so strong, unlike any female I had ever seen in a video game before and GREEN HAIR!!! And then I love Zidane, just becuase he broke the mold of "I'm your loner, moody FF protaginist, ,I look like a girl,I don't wanna fight, blah blah blah" and he has a tail!

In the end, I picked Terra.

Laguna from FFVIII would be my choice, while not the main character, he is a protagonist and a damn good one at that.

At first I thought in Cloud and his big-ass sword, but squall's is also a revolver (and it's preety badass) so...

Squal was such an antisocial character. The one thing he was saying in the entire game was ".....", yet the Gunblade was awesome!

The problem with most people as that they don't know Squall is MEANT to act like that. He was abandoned at an orphanage at such a young age that he developed an antisocial behavior that starts to open up when he meets Rinoa and is thrust into the leadership role that the garden and Cid offer him. He does become better as the game progresses but so many people complain about his attitude which I feel is cheap. What about Cloud? Doesn't he also have negative attitudes?

He sure does. Just like his name stands, "Cloud" for all this foggy past of his and "Strife", for his struggle between two identities he developed makes things complicated but his possitive attitude through out the game is that stands out the most.
As you said about Squall, in the end this is what I liked the most about the character, his bravery to overcome all his fears and stand true.
But opinions differ.
Sorry bro! :P

Out of these choices I picked Cecil, because I like him, FFIV is one of my favorites of the series, and he really is a driving factor of the story. He's you, and in the party for the entire game. FF characters always have some kind of metamorphosis or great revelation, and the paladin event was the most functionally interesting, I think. He also makes a really cool cameo in Secret of Evermore.

I would like to pick Terra from FFVI, but the entire ensemble of FFVI is really the main character... and I like Shadow and Gogo the most, anyway, I think :P

Also, people hate on Squall for being "emo" or depressed/whatever all the time, and FFVIII is a divisive game... but imo he really is probably the most fleshed out and human lead character in the series.

FF VI is my favorite, and I think Terra was awesome in it! So... I think it's easy to chose who is the best!

Zidane all the way! Though Terra is a very close second. When it comes to non-main characters, Freya, Auron, and Balthier come to mind.

Cloud, his b-day is one day before mine

Yuna, because FF 10 was pretty much her story, and she makes a better main character than Tidus.
