Windows 10

Simple question, is it ready to be used (not too buggy, compatible with programs, etc.) ?

I'm waiting for kinks to be smoothed before making the jump.

Well, I am using it on my laptop right now. It occasionally decides that Cortana and Windows Explorer need to die and for my computer to restart. I'm not entirely sure what triggers that, but its usually on start up. Thankfully, the restart is the fastest its ever been so there's that. I don't have to deal with all the stupid start screen stuff, but at the same time, its all in the start menu and I don't know how to get rid of it all without leaving a permanent void.

Also, delete all pictures you wouldn't show a stranger in a cafe, because windows will find it and show it in a slide show in that start menu. I know this because it was showing my concept stuff for CLX's half-naked bipolar demon doll girl.

I only have a little first hand experience with it as I put it on a laptop I'm not actively using to test it. I would personally recommend waiting a bit for some bugs to be worked out. As an example, audio seems to work fine for me but if I enter a full screen application, it just dies for no reason. I can't say if this happens to everyone but it's definitely something that's happening on mine.

For the picture thing that Psycho mentioned though, you can just remove the tile that cycles through your pictures to avoid that problem as well.

Not if you remove all of the tiles! That was the first thing I did, though I may have left the weather.

I've been using it for probably near on a year now. I've loved it since the start, and personally the bugs I've encountered are actually present in Windows 7 as well. Things relating to explorer not playing nicely with my multiple monitors due to the centre monitor being a 4K resolution. It does support multiple monitors better than Windows 7 though, as it has the task bar span across all of them.

Windows 8+ has very nice multiple monitor support. I just think 10 was a bit rushed but, like I said, I also haven't spent a ton of time with it yet. In reality, you'd probably be fine upgrading now because the improvements likely outweigh the bugs. I just think that if your system is stable at the moment, it might make more sense to give it another month or two.

My Windows 8 very rarely crashes, so I'm in no rush to upgrade.

One thing to keep in mind, Windows 10 does automatic updates so if for some reason you're in an area with compromised internet, it can be a pain.

I've downloaded Windows 10 about 2 months ago. I did run into a few issues, most were just a one time thing that needed a restart.
It seems a bit slower than Windows 8, but that's not surprising.
Cortana rarely decides to listen.
I've had icons flip upside down when moving them on the desktop.
Crashed twice at the end of a restart.

Major issue: Hauppauge Capture keeps crashing after at least an hour of recording and won't boot until a system restart.

Other than that, there isn't much that I have issues with.

Capture card was not an OS issue.

If you update to Windows 10, you'll have to do some research and turn off all of the data mining tools they have.
This will speed up your computer.
The computer still needs to be restarted regularly.

In the end, not really worth it if you're still rocking Windows 7. Windows 8.1 can go die.

Another thing worth mentioning, Windows 10 corrupted my touchpad's drivers in an update and because Lenovo is incompetent, I can't fix it with their drivers because the computer refuses to acknowledge that it has a touchpad.
