Rather than repeat what I already said on my gaming fan page, I will leave you the chance to read it for yourselves. https://www.facebook.com/RepentantSky
So thoughts, complaints? solutions? Anything to help stop this crap from being the norm?

Play it as it is or boycott it. Or one could just play a game that doesn't use microtransactions at all.
To be honest, I get the feeling this is going to become a norm regardless. People who want to be a winner/maxlvl without spending hours upon hours of time to refine a character might be willing to take the path of least resistance because they don't want to grind.

Isn't this a singleplayer game?

Meme image aside. The micro transactions will continue until people are smart enough to go "wow, I do not need to pay £20/$30 for extra things that will add little to nothing to my gaming experience" or until paying that price will actually give you something worth the money. In general, as long as the casuals are perfectly fine with paying £10/$15 to give the new assassin in assassin's creed a wacky outfit because it's so funny or paying to have all unlocks and more in the newest battlefield/COD game, we're not going to be seeing any end to this any time soon.
As ebil as Microsoft may be, Sony are no different and hell even Nintendo are trying to get into the paying more money for things so in a few years I wouldn't be surprised if all three are giving you micro transactions for stuff you really don't need.

You might be right about that. I might have been thinking about MGSV.
To add to this conversation, EA has just announced that they too are looking to take extra money from you by introducing a 50 dollar season pass. That means with the deluxe edition, the game costs 120 dollars, and they have special edition beyond the deluxe one that costs 120 dollars as well, which includes the deluxe edition and the season pass. You know what's different about that edition? A tag, a simple tag that is exclusive to you if you buy that edition, even though it costs the same as the deluxe edition with the season pass. So basically, if you want everything the game has to offer, you are forking over the price of two games without the subtle use of micro-transactions. It's hard to know what's worse, trying to nickel and dime you, or trying to make you pay for two games to get all the content of one. Either it's a bad practice that needs to stop.

Eh, that's nothing new. Try playing Battlefield without expac guns.

Even Miyazaki is getting in on the bullshit money robbing it seems. Bloodborne is going to have a game of the year edition out on November 25th meaning we have three games from the same company this year, and two of them are re-releases. One of those re-releases, is for a game that came out in Q1 of this year. Game of the Year editions are supposed to be for next year, not just in time for the holidays. God, the amount of bullshit is driving me crazy.

^I don't mind rereleases. If I already have the game I don't have the need to buy it again but if I was still thinking whether I should buy it or not, a rerelease might make me do so.

I don't mind, some re-releases, but in the same year? Less than 10 months apart? That's just money-grubbing.

On a similar note, PayDay 2 is currently riding the death train for dlc reasons.

What makes me mad about this one, is that the devs said they won't have micro-transactions in their game. I'd be willing to bet they were forced into it, but it still seems like a lie and betray of trust when they say one thing and something else happens.

The company has been falling apart for a while. It really doesn't surprise me all that much.

I'm not an industry analyst or someone who can talk about the psychology of buying habits, but I don't see this going away, only getting worse. Jim Sterling did a good video on it.
I used to be one of those people who said "It doesn't bother me because I don't let it". I never did buy Microtransacations in full retail games, but it does have an effect in retrospect (when looking at Dead Space). The only thing you can do is continue to kick up a stink about it on social media.
