the website looks nice
#1
I give it an 8/10

I like the gradient on the side with the mario characters, but maybe mario is not for everybody. perhaps in the future you should allow users to change the background in their account information, I know if I want the cast of a video game staring me down on cold nights while I meaninglessly contribute to an internet forum to create the pathetic illusion of social interaction, it should be a video game that I have a special connection with, like bubble bobble or yume nikki

but anyways it looks nice : ^ ) good job

That's not actually a permanent background. We plan to swap it out at least monthly so you won't have to deal with it forever. All the same though, thanks for the suggestion! It's definitely something we'll consider if there's enough demand to support it.

I agree, the website does look pretty nice.

However, something I noticed is that the forums don't seem to have any rules? This site is going to see a huge surge in the number of users and there don't seem to be any guidelines for posting etiquette. Of course, that's just a suggestion; I'm really looking forward to seeing this forum blossom!

thank you for the clarification

but its going to be a rough month with bouldergeist staring me down like that, his taunting image ignites painful memories, ones I'd rather put behind me...

Oh, is this the general "got any critiques on our website" thread?

Could you do something about the VGFacts.com banner at the top of the page that scrolls downward with the page? Basically, I'm running Mozilla Firefox's latest release with NoScript enabled, and I guess it's because of this that I can't so much as click the Log In, Register, User CP, and other various buttons that get overlapped by it. I think the issue is actually with the four buttons that are underneath the banner (the RSS, the Facebook, the Twitter, and the Youtube buttons) that are creating something that's preventing me from even so much as modifying my account (I was able to register by trying to make a thread and then getting stopped for not being logged in).

I would suggest that you disable noscript on the site. It's not really an option to adjust the website to work with plugins that disable parts of the site's daily operation.

This is one nice looking site! The colours correspond with each other, it's easy to navigate.

I have to agree with Dazz on this one. I've included as many fall-backs as possible for people with JavaScript disabled but in the end, this site (and most of the internet at this point) is really designed to take advantage of it.

The site looks nice & the Forum is nice too. Well it is pretty empty in the forums but it sure will overflow in the next days. The banner is slightly irritating for me but it comes pretty handy.
I wish you guys good luck with the site.

There were some rules on the other site (DidYouKnowGaming), but I guess they weren't over here yet. I guess that should be posted and such.

Please don't change the banner, I like being able to just click on the forums and go straight to the main board without scrolling to the top or backing up 10 pages. Also I think the backgrounds are cool, and maybe you could host a vote each month for what game series/game should be featured? Just a thought, it would keep the community involved.

The new site looks phenomenal! I'm just having trouble with agreeing to the Submission Guidelines. Every time I click on Agree at the bottom of the page, it takes me back to the "Please Read the Submission Guidelines" page. I got a loop going on. Is this just one of the First Day Bugs? If so, I'll just come back tomorrow and see what happens. Besides that I like where the site is going.

It does appear to be a bug - Could you try going to this page:
http://www.vgfacts.com/guidelines/

And clicking the button?

We'll try and fix the issue in any case.
