The gaming related ventilation thread!

Is this a vent? I mean, it kinda sounds like a good thing. I only know Conker's Bad Fur Day by reputation and M rating.

Think I gotta quit Hearthstone for good. It's an alright game but the RNG is so overwhelming that it's just not fun after a while. Like, you can make every right move and still get screwed constantly by random chance. Obviously every card game has it to an extent with drawing cards and all of that, but Hearthstone's top tier decks run several cards that cast random spells or create random minions or choose random targets and it's just infuriating. After playing a bunch of Magic and coming back to Hearthstone, it's just such a worse game at its core.

Not to mention that balance is all over the place, which is weird because you'd think being able to change your cards after the fact would mean that the developers could take in feedback and adjust accordingly, but instead they just make nerfs and buffs that don't make any damn sense while leaving stuff everyone knows is blatantly overpowered as is.

To get why I am so peeved about this you should first watch this video from about 5:06 onwards, where this dickbag talks about ranking and skill rating.

So I just played through Overwatch's latest competitive season's ten placement matches in a group of six, meaning we more or less all played the same way. We swapped tanks, healers and DPS's throughout the games and all of us got matches where we were in gold, silver or bronze. We won 4 out of the 6 matches we played and all this considered, we should have been pretty much even when it comes to the ranking the game would've given us after all those games, especially when all of us were, at the end of last season, within ranks 2100-3000 (higher being better for those not in the know). Now, I get it, I ain't the best there is but I am not shit. I may not have been in the 3000+ ranks last season but I think I did pretty well with my last season ending on a higher note for me on the rank 2373. Now, Kaplan the Dickbag explained in the above video how they had purposefully dropped people's ranks after placements the last few seasons to "give a sense of progression" which was a retarded concept to begin with but would explain why I always seemed to end up about 500 points lower than my usual rank no matter how well or badly I played. I went to this season thinking that hey, we are all pretty much even when it comes to our starting points and I won't get screwed over as badly as I had been previously. Soooo anyway, the placements ended and our entire team ended up pretty much around where we were supposed to, with ranks around 2500 to 2900. Except me, who got dropped a whopping 600 points from last season and got a rank of 1700. So uh... What happened to the whole not dropping ratings so drastically? THIS IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER GOTTEN! Like... None of this makes any sense! We played equally, as a team, how the fucking shit am I getting screwed over like this, AGAIN?! This also means that I got kicked out of the team by the game itself, as Overwatch has a system where low ranking players cannot play with higher ranking players. Thanks Blizzard. Thanks a fucking lot. And fuck you. Screw Overwatch, I have better games I can be playing.

As a side note, considering the amount of swearing and how loud it was that night, I wouldn't be surprised if the neighbours have made a complaint about me.

Ranked Overwatch makes no sense at all in any way. Played nothing but Lucio and hopped around being useles for four seasons, got just below Diamond every time.

Only played DPS last season, won 8 out of 10 with gold damage/kills in literally every game, got placed in Gold.

Abandon all hope ye who enter ranked queue.

ye did nothing but mediocre Mercy and got diamond. i quit.

So I revisited Super Mario Sunshine. I forgot how annoying some of the levels were(mostly Cronoa mountain and the 'i'm a chuckster' levels).

3DS is pretty fucked. Can't move it at all or the card reader bugs out. Gonna cost ~$100 to fix it and at that point I may as well just buy a new one.

Can't find my 3DS. I just had to get a black case for the thing. Same reason I regret getting clear framed glasses.

So I'm playing Grand theft auto III on my ps2(I got it last year with Vice city and san andreas as a collected trilogy). Some of the missions are just downright insane when you get onto the second island. I've lost count how many times I've have lost to the grand theft auto(yes that's the name of one of the missions) along with silent the sneak.

Why?

EDIT: nevermind, I saw your post at the r/gwent subreddit.

The N. Sane Trilogy is a great update to the original to the orgnl games. There are a few bugs that I've found (falling through platforms, not being able to hit an enemy even though I'm on top of it, and other problems that can be summed up with the phrase "where the fuck is the  hit box"), but I don't have too many complaints. That being said, Fuck The High Road. I spent a day trying to get the relic on that one stage alone. I would be bitter about the Relics in general, but they are more or less incorporated nicely in a game that was built more for waiting then racing. The High Road, on the other hand, is just not layout good enough to have one. I had to jump onto the ropes because one of the turtles you have to jump on is not in sync enough to do what it wants you to do and get the gold relic time. I did it, but I wasn't happy with it. It's the reason I didn't download the DLC. I've enough salt for a long time

Still, a pretty fun game. Just don't go for all trophies, because Fuck the High Road.

Monster Hunter World is coming out ~8 months earlier on PS4 than PC, which makes me sad as a person who will never buy a not Nintendo console ever again.

I got to try out the beta because I have an awesome friend with a PS4, and it's mostly great.

The one thing that stuck out to me is hooooooooooooooly crap the Camera Lock On is ass.

In previous games, the way Lock On worked is that the camera never locked on by itself, but you could tap the Big Monster's icon on the touch screen, Tap L and it'd center on the dude, or just look straight behind you Zelda-Style. It wasn't perfect, but it worked fine and I haven't had any complaints about it for the past 3 entries in the series.

In World, however, they done fucked it up.

First of, there's no way to tap on the touch screen obviously. Which wouldn't really be a problem, if they didn't add the ability to focus your camera on tiny herbivores that never matter. Why would they add this? Nobody who has ever played Monster Hunter has ever said "Oh man I really wish I could specifically focus the camera on that dinosaur cow over in the corner."

This isn't nitpicking or me just getting to close to the dudes either, I'll be 2 feet away from a giant monster's face and the camera will do a fucking 180 turn to focus on the fluffy alpaca a hundred yards away. What the shit is this?

So alright, that sucks, but now let's say I'm in an area with a giant dragon, there are no herbivores around to fuck up the camera's motion sensors, we're good, right?

Nope, because now the camera has patented Play Station 1 Era Auto Lock On!

This means that instead of tapping the button whenever you want the camera to focus on the giant monster, the game Guesses when you want to focus on the giant monster! Badly!

Every ~3 seconds, the camera will shift in a really jarring manner to the monster's hitbox. Problem is, a lot of the time I wanted to get around the guy to smash his face or his tail, so I'd start running around his body from my perspective. Then the genius new technology decides to shift about 120 degrees to where the thing's head is, which is disorienting as shit and causes me to recalculate where I'm going. In a game where you have to make split second decisions on where to dodge and what body part to try and hit while the thing is only vulnerable for a moment, this shit is a nightmare.

I'm praying the full game has an option to just use the old style or that I missed said option in my limited time with the beta.

A review/vent about a game. Remember how I showed off I got a picture of Mighty No 9 as part of my pax collection? Well guess what I'm going to get rid of later. I've thought I'd go and give this game a chance after getting it for free(Yes you're reading that right, I got this for free) at the pax east convention. To my surprise(Not) the game was as bad as everyone is labeling it as, even those who have joked about this game called it a 'mighty disaster'(which is what the game is).

To be frank. A successor for Megaman is a rather good idea, but this is a game that is too buggy to the point my Wii U began asking about if anything was connected. To having to face the same death over and over again by badly made controls, uninteresting bad guys(its like witnessing a bad 80s cartoon), let alone have anything good about this wasted for shit. What bothers me about this game is that it is the example of giving in to nostalgia right away without giving much thought about what the outcome would be. The people who funded this on kickstarter really should think twice before funding something. They gave into the nostalgia memories of playing Mega-man back when the series was good.  Capcom may have not done anything bright, but i'd rather have a disaster from Capcom rather than someone who formally worked for the company. Everything that could've have this a good successor to the blue bomber was tossed out the window when greed and delays got the better of the people behind the game. This was handled by people who formally worked for Capcom, you'd think they'd plan this out better. But guess what, they didn't!

Remember folks. If you're going to make a kickstarter for a video game, make sure you keep your promises and dont fuck it up when you get the funds for it cause you only have one shot at pleasing to the gamers. What can we learn from this? Don't give into the nostalgia, save your money for a rainy day, and put better effort into the game behind the process of it rather than 'delay it' for deals(e.g movie, tv show, etc etc). I'm thankful that Megaman is coming back later this year. We can now ditch this blue bomber wannabe out the door.

See, as much as I would like to defend the game and say "At lest it doesn't make you want to play a better game like Yooka-Laylee her-da-der," Yooka-Laylee was at lest a bad version of a good game. Mighty No.9 feels like Megaman 8 AKA the worst of the original Megamans. I beat Yooka despite feeling bored with it by the end. Mighty reminded me of a bad game and I gave up on it after the tutorial.
