It explains why we haven't got Half Life 3, or something. I don't know.

The original use for the tool we now know as the chainsaw was a medical tool used in childbirth to widen a woman's pelvis if the baby's head was too big. Invented in the 1700s and originally hand powered, no one thought to use to cut trees until the 1920s.

Yes, just let that sink in. Chainsaw to the birth canal and pelvis. And no anesthetics existed at the time either. You felt it all....

On one hand, being a guy, I want to see this in works. On the other hand, I was almost one of those too big for his mom's pelvis babies (sorry for the image), so they would have had to use it on me. Where should I stand on this?

Well... While they certainly could have been used to cut a woman's pelvis, they were actually invented as a way to remove diseased bone without damaging the nerves. And although they weren't used to cut trees until the 1920s, I'd be willing to bet that it has less to do with nobody thinking about it and more with the fact that there were no portable engines until then powerful enough to cut a tree.

Correct on the count of needing an engine to cut the tree. And it was very true that bone was removed by use of the early chainsaw designs. However, I have read multiple sources claiming it was first used for symphysiotomy - or cutting up the pelvic to widen the birth canal. As it's effectiveness was seen, it began to be used to remove any diseased bone.

"You Really Got Me" by The Kinks is potentially one of the most important songs in rock and roll history. Released in 1964, it was a massive hit in both the US and the band's native UK. And, it would provide the blueprint for hard rock music. Essentially, without this one song, hard rock, punk rock and heavy metal would not exist as we know it. But the unique sound of the guitar is what set it apart.

How did that sound come up? Instead of recording the guitar directly, they recorded guitarist Dave Davies (real name David Davies, no joke) playing through a blown amp. And by blown, I mean Dave had spliced the thing purposefully with a razor blade and poked it with pins. Before the guitar solo at 1:16 starts, if you listen veeeeeeerrrrrrrryyyy closely, you can actually hear Dave also say "F*ck off". The scream of "oh no" was actually added to make it harder to hear the profanity.

Michael Eisner rejected the very first Indiana Jones film when it was first pitched to Paramount. He was working for Paramount pictures at the time and he didn't think the concept of Jones would be a good film. The head of Paramount heard about the project being from Steven Spielberg and later told Eisner to pick up the project or else he'd be fired.
