I've never owned an xbox.
Consoles these days suck.

I just want a damn console I plus into the tv, pop in a cartridge, and get to playing. So simple and perfect. Ugh. No internet, no motion control bullshit, no membership, no double screenplay, just the goddamn game.

You know, I was never big on the XBox line, but at least the last two consoles weren't complete shit.

I get they want to draw non-gamers to the console, but the point of a game console is to be able to create and use better gaming engines for more interesting games, not to watch tv or use skype, both of which are not things a damn game company should even care about, much less make it a defining feature of their system.

For crying out loud...

I really think this is the last death throe of the consoles... Instead of giving us high quality no-bullshit gaming, we get guff, guff and more guff. I've always loved consoles, but PCs are now progressing so rapidly that consoles become quasi-obsolete after a year or two. This pushes companies to add appendages to their consoles to make them more durable therefore taking away some effort from making the console actually good.

They could have given us the specs of the console and show us how powerful it is in action - NOPE, here's some shite about social media. When will these companies start realising that adding things does not necessarily lead to a better product ? If a console ain't broken, don't fix it, just give the next one a kick-ass update that brings it up to par with modern technology.

As Beware of Cooking said, just give us something in which you insert a game and boom; fun on-line and off-line.

Not in the mood to do a long post describing why this conference is a lost touch and the console is unappealing apart from the COD/FIFA players and Americans who want to watch BIG TIME FOOTBALL licking their lips right now. Also the console is quite ugly, in fact my VHS player from 2000 looks better than that. In fact the new console looks like this thing: http://i.imgur.com/tTmr8Ol.jpg but the difference was that expensive Japanese home computer had good games and really good arcade ports while the Xbox One seems to be so far limited to just FPS, TPS, a couple of racing games, sports games and TV tie-ins of unknown quality since Microsoft only speaks for US TV services and Skype.

Oh and Microsoft, there was an Xbox One. Remember that big and bulky thingy with an X on it that you released back in 2001? Now that I think about it, I am tempted of getting the original just so I can play some games that missed out on very cheaply (at least 50 games) but what you would you call the original Xbox now?

It was bollocks. Don't give a crap about shitty generic lazy half-arsed games like Madden, Fifa, NBA and the other yearly released piles of wank. Don't give a crap about the insane snoozefest that is Forza. Don't care about social gaming. Absolutely hate windows 8. I don't care for INSTANTLY flicking through TV.

Whenever they did announce games, it was generic sheeple shite that only the brain dead goons wants. CoD, Fifa, NBA, Madden, Halo, Forza...so we have an interesting new IP but that was minimal compared to the others. I was watching with a friend and we even called out the same games. No fighting games, no RTS, no puzzle, no sims, no rhythm, no adventure just....generic crap. We need games for gamers.

Also a point about that. It makes me think that people who think this is a great idea play into the stereotype of 'lazy Americans'. "Oh noez, first world problems. I want to conveniently flick between TV, gaming and other apps". Is there some sort of huge widespread problem that means we urgently need the ability to not pick up the remote or something. It's so dumb and it has NOTHING to do with gaming. Like Beware of Coconuts said, I just wanna put a game in a go. THat WiiU is looking pretty promising right about now.

Edit: Plus the whole "you may have to install games" is a huge turn-off.

Well after some thought...
Cons
-The name is really really really stupid
-Today they advertised it as a TV/Remote, not as a console (Great fucking job there guys)
-Very few exclusives
-Kinect mandatory for the thing to work
-Games need to be installed for them to work
-NO BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY (SERIOUSLY WTF WERE THEY THINKING?)

Pros
-The graphics that they showed in the Ghost reveal were pretty nice (for a console)
-Gamerscore, Avatar stuff, Gamertag carry over

Meh
-The controller
-That used game fee(which may or may not actually exist, Microsoft is giving out mixed answers)
-That Halo action series (I liked Forward Unto Dawn)
-It looks weird

In conclusion Microsoft better have the most outstanding, incredible over the top ridiculous E3 presentation in the history of mankind if they want to recover from this absolute garbage reveal.

Another piece of clarification around playing games at a friend’s house – should you choose to play your game at your friend’s house, there is no fee to play that game while you are signed in to your profile.
