It's International though so all over Europe too. UK, Germany, France etc. I'm sure Finland participate too.

Also, to expand a bit on what Newt said, there's also some additional bonuses like writers and artists who come to sign comics or chat to fans. It's an awesome day for sure.

I would benefit from this if there was a single comic store within a few hundred mile radius.

Some bookstores participate, too. Half Priced Books, a local book store in my area, did it. Next year, try bringing it up to a local bookstore. The comic books they get are free too. They don't pay for anything either. So they'd probably profit if they put some comic books that weren't free in the area and said "Try reading these great comics as well." or something.

I read my fair share of webcomics if those count; I don't really read real comic books but I used to be big on Archie however I've grown out of it. Recently I've been catching up on the Mega Man & Sonic comics but thats probably only out of my love for both franchises.

Let me clarify... There is not a single store that is not a food store or a supermarket within a few hundred mile radius.

No, wait, there is one small bookstore in the next town. Then again, they mostly sell school books and the biggest novels so yeah. I think I have a chance for a better deal at this antiquary that's still located way too far for me to just make a quick trip to it. At least I have online stores, which there are plenty. Otherwise I would propably go insane in this town.

I thought my Australian friend was exaggerating when she said the same thing about her town. I guess I kinda just have it good over in California. I told her I went to see Iron Man and she was like "I wanna see it so bad." and I asked why she hadn't seen it yet and she said "Nearest movie theater is in <Some City> over two hours away."

I was so sad. =<

I have that exact same situation. The nearest movie theater is a little less than two hours away by car. Back when I was dating me and my girlfriend missed a movie because we misread the time it started and left my home 40 minutes too late to actually make it there.

I've recently gotten into Judge Dredd, both the new IDW line and the old 2000AD stuff that started in 1977. It's so gloriously over the top and the cities/wasteland is just HUGE.

Started getting into it after the new movie came out. It's really too bad it did poorly in the box office, because it was great. Guess that's what happens when you have little to no advertising budget.

Hnnngh... I just encountered the most dickish "To Be Continued" text in a comic, ever.

About halfway through The Army of Darkness Omnibus 2 there's a story that ends with "To be continued in Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness!", I turn the page expecting to continue the story but NOPE. The very next page starts right after said series. This means I'll have to shell out another 40€ and wait for the comics to arrive to actually continue. Sigh...

It's not like I just paid over 60€ for the stuff I just received or anything.

OMG. So on my way to that car show I passed by a place called The Source, which I'd remembered seeing commercials for, and always wanted to go to.

I went there after and nearly fainted when I entered. Just rows upon rows of comics, statues/figures, card game related things, and other "in" stuff as well. I wish I'd had more time to look at everything because there was just too much.

Unfortunately the majority of things I was interested in I can find cheaper online, but my gosh was it fun to be in there!

This is my comic collection, kinda. I loaned out a number of comics and they're kinda missing in action, and I also have a box filled with more trades, but I can't find it.

My current comic collection is small, but my local library has a ton of comic/graphic novels there or they call their other branches in the area and transport them to the local one here in town.

My collection is Watchmen by Alan Moore, Absolute Batman the Long Halloween followed by Dark Victory the sequel to it. I have Batman: Year One, The Man Who Laughs, Batman Hush (I like Batman), Crisis on Infinite Earths. There are a few other Batman ones but I can't remember their titles, haven't read them in a while.

Before that though, the first series that really kicked me off was actually The Sandman by Neil Gaiman. That series is weird and strange and awesome all wrapped up in some really cool artwork that got better as it went on. Plus they changed up their artists from time to time so you could see different variations of the characters in the series.

Sad that it only ran for like 10 volumes worth of issues but they were really good. Currently they are making a prequel series with Neil Gaiman once more writing about The Sandman so that is good.

Right now the one I'm trying to catch up with again or trying to find the time really to catch up with is Fables from Vertigo. That is another awesome series to read. If you've seen the show Once Upon A Time or the Fables game from Tell Tales Games, then you have a good idea of what the comic is about.

I could keep going and list off all the series I've read but it would be a good sized list.

As far as superhero comics go though it is obvious I'd read Batman over anyone else any day. Best superhero there is in my opinion.
