What is it with everyone hating/losing interest on Sega?
#16
The more people that hate sega the cheaper you can get the classic ones for which is awesome because i am collecting sega instead of nintendo right now.

Sega has been milking the crap out of Sonic and only Sonic ever since the Dreamcast bit the dust. I'm not saying dropping out of the console market was't a good decision, but ever since it seems Sega has only relied on the blue hedgehog to make them a quick buck. Even when they do make or revive a new IP, they usually had to slap "Made by Sonic Team" (like with Billy Hatcher and the few localizations Puyo has gotten) to hope it sells a copy. Even recently when Sega publishes a new IP, they don't bother to market it much, and thus no one buys it. *cough rhythm thief cough*. Not to mention Aliens is pretty much dead due to the latest instalment, and I'm not so sure on Shogun and Football Manager.

Sega has been re-releasing their old Saturn and Dreamcast titles, so baby steps I guess.

Basically they've been relying on him too much.

Honestly, I see nothing wrong in relying on something that sells. That's just business.

And... Out of the Sega games I've played lately, none of them have "Made by Sonic Team" on them. I know some games do but none of the ones I have.

I think it's how they go about it.
Sonic Unleashed: YEAAAAAAAAAAAH...and here is some BS Werehog stuff
Sonic Colours: YEAAAAAAAAAAAH....and now we'll slow down the gameplay with these jelly fish powerups
Sonic being horribly made(Sonic 06), Sonic with a sword(sonic and black knight), sonic and awful motion controls(sonic and the 7 rings) and that's this generation. THere's been others like Sonic Chronicles, Rush and Rush Adventure on the DS which are great but they are putting Sonic in some pretty stupid situations.

I completely agree that if it works, keep at it. But I do question how some of their ideas come about. Then you look at the reception and success of Sonic Generations realise that's what we wanted this whole time. It's Sonic as he should be.

I don't think Sonic has been milked in the same the Assassins Creed cow has and that it's now giving out dust, it's more that the Sonic franchise has been misused.

^You know, while most of the Sonic games from the past decade or so haven't been very good, at least SEGA is doing something other than the basic formula. Look at Mario. When was the last time Nintendo tried something new or fresh with him? At the very least, SEGA deserves some kind of praise for doing that much.

Also, as a side note, the reason I still like SEGA nowadays is because they made that deal with Platinum to publish their games for the next however many years.

Sonic Heroes was surprisingly solid but almost every Sonic game that tries to "mix it up" just ends up being a failure. It's like they had this idea, got to conceptual stages and the idea was never fleshed out enough for it to succeed. Then there's Sonic 06' which should've worked seeing as it's pretty much Sonic Adventure 3, but it plays like it was pushed through in it's alpha stage.

I know that, but when its your last leg THEN theres a problem. Sega's become one of the companies afraid to try new things. And like I said earlier, when they do they don't promote it much.

Very much true and I agree. I do think it's great SEGA try new stuff but they often miss the mark with their new ideas. Sonic Colours is a great game and the only reason I didn't like the Jellyfish is because it didn't feel right for me, but I don't consider it to be a problem with the game. Compared to weird(and bad) games like Sonic and The Black Knight just makes me shake my head. That's not all recent Sonic games. Like I said Generations was incredible, Sonic 4 Episode 1 and 2 were pretty good, Sonic Rush (and Adventure) are worth checking out.

Not entirely true. SEGA have been constantly trying out new ideas.
Bayonetta, Binary Domain, Mad World, Vanquish, House of the Dead: Overkill, Sonic and Sega Racing, Anarchy Reigns and some others.

Well, they recently took part in Project X Zone which is pretty sweet. Surprisingly, they didn't use Sonic.

All those games came out in 2010, when Sega was on sort of a roll I guess. None of those franchises have gotten another outing since (Not sure for House of the Dead and Anarchy did come out recently) and nowadays when do you see a Sega game getting promoted alot? Sonic and Sega racing still had Sonic slapped on the cover, and when you get down to it its just a Mario Kart wannabe that happened to be great.

I stand by SEGA through thick and thin just for the lone reason of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is my all-time favorite 2D platformer, I didn't really play sonic during the 06 era, but I did play Heroes which I still think is my favorite 3D sonic game, but I am glad to see that SEGA almost immediately tried to fix their mistake with Sonic 06 with Unleashed, despite the weird Werehog concept, they put alot of attention into the game, and I cannot thank them enough for showing some improvement in their games, especially for Colors and Generations.

YES I JUST SONIC HEROES IS MY FAVORITE 3D SONIC GAME.

They did release a lot of good sequels in 2011 and a new Virtua Fighter in 2012. There's still time for more this year.

Sega...they're a special case.

I've trusted Sega for a while, they've never really let me down with a video game. I guess I was young, and still saw the cool Sega where they were just dishing out the games that couldn't be on the Dreamcast.

I learned to appreciate the old Sega over the new one though. Sega are cool and all, but these days, they're not an interesting company to keep an eye on.

Unless they release Shenmue, or any other forgotten Dreamcast game, they're not of any interest, really the last Sega game I can remember buying was Sonic Generations, while it was good, it was not something that I wanted to buy, I just bought it because it was on offer.

Sega don't appeal to the audience they used too, everyone who were fans of Sega, aren't now for many reasons, I could go on, but I'd rather end it like this.

Sega are a company full of geniuses being run by idiots.
