The Mystery of Melee's DK Rap in Smash WiiU
#1
The version of Melee's remix of the DK Rap featured in Smash Bros. for WiiU is oddly abridged, removing significant sections of the song. Mainly, it removes the segments that refer to Chunky and Lanky Kong

Full Version featured in Melee:

Abridged Version from Smash WiiU:

While it could be argued that the change was due to Chunky and Lanky supposedly no longer being usable by Nintendo due to Rare (The original developers of Donkey Kong 64.) being bought by Microsoft in 2002 (One year after Melee's release.), this likely isn't the case as Brawl (Which was released in 2008) featured the full version of the song.

A more likely explanation is that this change was made to standardize the song with the rest of the soundtrack. Most songs in Smash WiiU average around 2 minutes in order to save space on the game disc.

ANOTHER THEORY: Probably this was done to only talk about the Kongs who are actually playable in Smash 4. We may never know for certain either way until it's actually spoken about with development team.

Let's not blame Rare for things like these, Nintendo owns Donkey Kong rights, a spinoff franchise to Mario like with Yoshi, Wario and Captain Toad. Rare haven't even referenced Donkey Kong in their games on Microsoft System released games anyway.

I don't think it was done to only feature playable Kongs as Brawl (Which also only had Donkey and Diddy Kong as fighters.) featured the full song and the abridged version keeps Tiny Kong's segment.

Also, the point I was making above was that Rare's buyout probably wasn't why the song was changed.

The one thing that does puzzles me is cutting out the closing lyrics, but yeah, not sure why they'd still mention Tiny's portion, which may actually come handy in the future with Tiny's sister Dixie with a similar play style.
