Eh, I thought this was more of a general discussion thread about the series while the X and Y thread was specifically about X and Y. It's just annoying to me because I'm trying to do a blind run of X and Y when they release with as little prior knowledge as possible, and people keep posting stuff so I have to avoid all pokemon threads in general.

Can you guys please just put spoiler tags on new stuff at least? I don't want to inconvenience anyone, but I'd really appreciate it.

I would be surprised if anyone saw a regular looking, albeit sentient, sword interesting.

The way I see it, I think of the orignal Red, Blue, and Yellow as the beta designs for the new pokemon. Yes we have cool looking pokemon but we also have some dumb looking pokemon as well. I've heard some people say "Why do people hate Garbodor but love Muk? It must be nostalgia." The real reason is that Muk is stupid and simple in design but Garbodor looks like a copy of Muk but with trash instead of sludge. You can say the same thing about Gothitelle and it's evolutions. A small pokemon that grows into a "sexy" (YMMV) human pokemon. It sounds like Ralts evolving into Gardevoir (among other pokemon), just without the thing that makes me like it (I'm not sure what it is). How about Voltorb? I've hear people say that it is unimaginative because it's a pokeball. Well what makes (in order) Exeggcute Seedot, Vanillite, Foongus, Klink, Litwick, Cryogonal, and the new Honedge any different? They are all dumb designs (except maybe the sword, still not sure what I think about it).

I could go on and say that Klink, Klang, and Klinklang look like Diglett and Dugtrio but a lot less cute and not that awesome, but I think I made my point. I don't hate the new pokemon (Yamask and Cofagrigus are really cool designs and would possably be on my team right next to all my other favoretes if I played the game, and Whimsicott, despite how weird it looks, is really cute) I just want to point out that, yea, we know the new designs are dumb but so are the old designs. Like Probopass and Lickilicky............... and Swalot............. and Tauros.
