Well, I suppose you all know what SOPA is.

I just want to know why the government is even trying to push this bullshit through so hard.

They will never learn will they? Why even bother going with this if 99% of the country is highly against it?

Simply put, they get away with a lot of stuff when the public is blind to it.

Well its 4/5th done petition side if nothing else. It still needs to be spread regardless because that thing means nothing if not enough people know.

Yeah, I thought I had saw the last of that BS law...
Anyway, I really don't see this going through, but then again I have underestimated things like this before...

It looks like it will only be a small part of the bill being made into law. Specifically, it's covering the part regarding livestreaming copyrighted material. Of course, we shouldn't even let one sentence of that poorly-worded bill be law, so let's make sure to sign that petition.

On the awesome bright side, it reached over 100k Signatures...but why stop there?

Let it keep going up and up...hell, over 200k even! Let congress know that the internet ain't fucking around here:P

I find it rather pointless that the government is trying to approve of this when it has the words epic failure written all over it. For the record, the internet is a major important thing to everyone. And everyone knows that isn't a secret. Aside from TV and magazines. How do advertisers get the word out about their product?

They use the internet. How do some people make out their orders? They use the internet. As well as anything that has to do with the internet, the government would prevent people from advertising their product as well as having a bit of privacy to themselves. You can't check your email without having the big eye from the government right on you once you log into your email. If this gets approved, then everyone would stop using the internet all together. I'm sure people don't want that to happen now would they?

I feel like doing my typical Newt thing of writing a huge three page opinion on something like this may lead you guys to not read it, which is acceptable.

I'll shorten it to a paragraph or two, instead.

Is there a name for this act that you guys are all petitioning against? I did some research on a 2013 SOPA and not much came up aside from an article by IGN, and it was filled with vague-isms. I don't blindly sign petitions without them being written in lawyer language. I mean, this petition seems like it's likely to affect as much as the one where they pleaded Obama to make it illegal for Ben Affleck to be Batman.

I want an exact Act being written in, so I can personally wage a war against it. You guys are missing the fine points in a REAL way to stop acts like this being made. They're about as effective as changing your Facebook picture. You want something like this to go down? It's not easy. You don't get to simply sign an online petition, smile and say "I HALPED!" Jesus.

You need to find out the name of the bill. You need to find out the companies who supported it. You need to PERSONALLY eMail every. Single. Supporter. Then you need to threaten them where it hurts the most: your support. We find three major companies in support of this new bill. Then we eMail them. And by "we" I don't mean VGFacts, I mean as many supporters as you can. You tell those companies that you're no longer going to support buying their products until they take back how they feel about SOPA. Then we eMail the Big Heads. The government officials in your state who signed and helped support SOPA. You personally eMail them informing them they lost your vote. You tell them how you feel. You tell them what this is going to do to your heroes who make let's plays.

Is anyone getting my point?
