Street Fighter's Ryu and Chun-Li are the latest additions to the Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid roster. Ryu is titled as the Crimson Hawk Ranger and Chun-Li is titled as the Blue Phoenix Ranger. This trailer mostly focuses on Ryu, though. 

Here's some context for those who are confused: Back in 2018, it was revealed that Ryu would become a ranger in the Power Rangers: Legacy Wars mobile game. Chun-Li joined him in 2019. This is a continuation of that crossover.

Shermie has been revealed for The King of Fighters XV! First Yashiro and now Shermie. It's only a matter of time until they reveal Chris.

There were SO many people expecting Botan. Now those people are like: "HUH?!"

Q: "wait, who is Botan and why were people expecting that character" A: Botan is an NPC and a menber of Those from the Past, the main group of villains in the Ash saga. Her main ability is to control people like puppets (quite literally). As for why people were expecting her? Well, it was thanks to this teaser on Twitter.

Everyone talks about Marvel vs. Capcom, Capcom vs. SNK, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, ect. But remenber Sammy vs. Capcom? Sammy as in "Sammy Corporation", not Samus Aran, LOL.

Tanzong did a recap of the KOF XIV manga.


The manga is not necessarily canon in its entirety, but it has a potential influence on the games.

“The manga’s story does not become the story of KOF XIV straightaway. However I believe that the manga’s concept significantly should bring a huge influence to our game” - Oda

There are clear liberties taken, like how Igniz’s soul is trapped inside of Verse in XIV while in the manga he is an AI. But there are plenty of things that may or may not carry over to the games. Think of how DMC1’s light novel had a lot of things used for the main canon but dropped plot points that wouldn’t fit like Gilver.

As for why Tanzong skipped XIII? Because he uploaded the series out of order already. The first one he did was KOF '99.

So, Rose character story just teased an apocaliptic event of some sorts. Rose also talks about how it's too late to stop said event and that the answer lies in the past. Overall, her dialogue heavily implied that she might pull a Raiden move and go in the past to warn her past self of danger. In other words, an MK9 style reboot.

From the looks of it, Capcom will do anything in order to NOT move past SF3 Third Strike in the timeline.

There are people who claim that the Street Fighter series needs a reboot more than MK ever did, because there are so many conflicting details and retcons over the years. I somewhat get where they are coming from, but still, there are other ways to this. If Capcom really wants to fix or clarify certain events of the past then just do a timeline of sorts like the one in StrIVe. There were so many interesting story elements introduced in SFV, are we seriously letting all that go to waste?

So far, it seems most people reject this idea, and I agree. I'm a little tired of prequels and going back to the past. It's time to move foward. To move past Third Strike.

Speaking of Mortal Kombat 9 (2011), I just want to say happy 10th anniversary to that game!

Two trailers

SNK released the Samurai Shodown Season 3 gameplay reveal trailer for The Last Blade 2 guest character, Hibiki Takane! She will be available on April 28th.

She looks great. Hibiki's transition to 3D was a smooth one.

In case you didn't knew: Samurai Shodown takes place in 18th century Japan, during the Sakoku or seclusion period of Japan, imposed by the Tokugawa shogunate (the first seven games in the timeline take place between 1786 to 1790. Warrior's Rage for the PS1, the last game in the timeline, takes place in 1811 and Haohmaru is potrayed as an old man). The Last Blade 1 and 2 take place during the Bakumatsu or late Tokugawa shogunate era, between 1853 and 1867. Hell, the Japanese name the Last Blade series is “Romance of the Bakumatsu”. What I'm saying here is that there's a huge time gap between both game series in terms of background setting.

And no, neither franchise takes place in the same universe. There's no evidence for that.

According to the Season 1 Pass roadmap, only Annie of the Stars and the second character will be released within 2021. We'll have to wait until 2022 for the third and fourth DLC challengers.

Chris has been revealed for The King of Fighters XIV! The band is officially back togheter, now under the name Team Orochi! Surprised they are called Team Orochi instead of Team CYS or Team Heavenly Kings.

They brought back the special intros! This game looks better and better with each new trailer!

Capcom has released Rose's official character introduction guide.

What caught my attention the most is this line: "Rose's character design is actually related to the Alpha series story. She is part of a time loop where she has gone back in time to thwart the ambitions of M. Bison."

Are you telling me Rose has time traveled before and that the whole series is a time loop? We got time loops that were never hinted at in the past now all of a sudden? What the hell?

Yup, Capcom is really gonna do an NRS style reboot. FFS.

Also, Ryu looks kinda weird in this costume but somehow it also fits him? It's better than some other alternate costumes that he wore before.

The Street Fighter Pack will be available to Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid players on May 25.
