Chipp Zanuff and Potemkin will be joining Guilty Gear 2020.

The button layout will be the same (Punch, Kick, Slash, Heavy Slash, and Dust), but new inputs will be used for Throws and Dashing. The Roman Cancel system will also be different and "simplified". However, some old style of inputs for certain techniques will still work. Daisuke Ishiwatari stated that they will be accepting feedback regarding the demo.

It was also revealed that the final version of the game will have both Japanese and English voiceovers.

However, Ono did say that they have some big announcements coming in November and December

At the conclusion of the Capcom Pro Tour 2019 North American Regional Finals, a brand new character for Street Fighter V: Champion Edition was revealed, and said character is none other than Gill.

Remenber when some people were saying that Gill won't be in the game because Urien got the Gill costume? I won't lie, I believed that too.

Yes, you read that right, Capcom has announced a champion edition of Street Fighter V.

I could be wrong, but it looks like the Champion Edition is going to be the last, definitive version. Remenber that Capcom said they will support the game until 2020.

EDIT: for those who are confused - if you already own SFV then things such a the new V-skill and the balance update will be free. If you want to have everything else, however, you have to pay.

Also.

WELP, LOL. I didn't get any of these right.

Moving on from SFV, Faust has been teased for the upcoming Guilty Gear game that will be releasing in late 2020. The title of the game was also revealed to be "Guilty Gear Strive."

.... Guilty Gear STRIVE? Ah, I see what you did there ASW. Very clever.

The next reveal trailer for GGStrive will debut at Frosty Faustings, Jan. 17-18, 2020.

The game is coming on February 20 of next year (February 21 for European players) on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Bandai Namco revealed during the Tekken World Tour Finals 2019 the gameplay trailer for newcomer Leroy Smith. They also revealed that series veteran Ganryu is making a comeback and that another newcomer called Fahkumram is joining the list of Season 3 characters.

Both Leroy and Ganryu are dropping on December 10th, while Fahkumram is coming on Spring 2020.
EDIT:

Remenber this?

https://www.vgfacts.com/trivia/8428/

Yeah, Fahkumram's design seems like a subtle jab by Harada to the western audiences. You know, with Harada releasing the muscled up, tattoed, 'skinhead' character and all that.

All the boss characters from the series are now in one game. That's cool.

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Dec. 2019 Balance Update Patch Notes

So the other day I found this comment on EventHubs by user SF91er, I must admit it was quite thought-provoking.

SF91er Wrote:I really don’t understand Capcom’s logic with this game. They’ve been about shaking things up and changing the ways that characters play from previous titles, but two of the series veterans, Ryu and Chun, are largely unchanged from how they’ve always been, while Juri and Seth, who’ve had one appearance in a main SF title to date, have immediately been completely changed from how they were in USFIV. I get that established characters have a type and play style, but when they’ve been around for so long, isn’t it time to breathe new life in to them with new tools and mechanics? Likewise, why are Juri and Seth completely revamped after only 1 game?? Am I the only one who finds this odd?

This was definitely a great year... No, a great decade for fighting games. No doubt about it.

DBFZ, Guilty Gear Xrd, SFV, Blazblue, TEKKEN, MK, Skullgirls, Soul Calibur, Samurai Shodown, etc. There were options for everyone.

Let's see what the next decade has in store!
