Metroid Dread Spirit event to come to Smash Ultimate
Man, this truly was an ride to remenber, wasn't it? Sure, it wasn't perfect, but overall I'll say the positives outweight the negatives. This game brought many long requested characters into the rosters, some of which were considered "impossible" or that it would never happen. A small part of me whishes the DLC for this game kept going until it reached a total of 100 characters but I can see why that didn't happen.
Smash Ultimate is gonna be the last Smash game where Mr. Sakurai is involved. I don't know how many of characters from Ultimate are going to be featured in Smash 6 but what I know from certain is that:
1.) The original 12 veterans from Smash 64 are pretty much guaranteed to return.
2.) We are NOT going to see most (if any) of the 18 guest characters featured in this game. Maybe Sonic and Bayonetta will return, but that's about it. Pac-Man could return too if we assume Smash 6 is also gonna be developed by Bandai Namco.
3.) The game is going to feature characters that don't exist YET.
I'm sure most Smash fans will be happy with just getting a complete edtion of Ultimate featuring all the DLC. But knowing how well the Smash series sells, chances are that we are gonna get Smash 6 sooner or later. Either that or Nintendo will just port Ultimate to future consoles (and maybe add some extra content to it, I guess?). OR the Smash series could branch off and have spinoff games.
Is Smash 6 gonna be a sequel or a reboot for the series? Hell if I know.
See you in around 10 years when the next Smash game or re-release of Ultimate gets launched!

My review of Ultimate's DLC Characters:
Joker- Don't know who he was but I am familiar with the Persona series prior to his reveal. You can tell that Sakurai was head over heels with this character. What Joker brought in terms of stage and music is a pretty good tribute to his series roots(what with the stage colors corresponding with the OST of the Games).
4/5 Smash Logo
Hero- The DLC that started the "hoes mad" meme. Just for that, an instant favorite for exposing how obnoxious the community can get when their pick wasn't the one revealed. I played a couple of Dragon Quest so I was pleasantly surprised that other protagonists managed to show up as alt costumes. The only downside is the music, as it is just two tracks for each protagonist and their weren't any arrangements. I also love the lol xd random gimmick that is Hero's Down B special is.
5/5 Smash Logo
Banjo Kazooie- I never thought this would actually happen. So when it did, it was very hype because it's just something that never crossed my mind that this was a possibility. Anyways, I enjoy the stage and music but the character himself is lacking in the gameplay department. Completely average and pales in comparison to the previous DLC. Other than that, fantastic choice.
3/5 Smash Logo
Terry Bogard- When people think of SNK, they usually think fondly of the days where you were wasting quarters at the arcades or a laundromat. I am one of those people, and I still remember sucking so bad at KOF98 and 2000 but I was like 11 at the time. However, my time with SNK was spent playing Metal Slug. Metal Slug is a series that I hold near and dear to my heart. So, when the opportunity popped up that SNK was going to get a representative, I was over the moon that Metal Slug would be the pick. To be fair, I knew that Metal Slug didn't stood a chance because of SNK repertoire of fighting games but a guy can dream. Color me devastated that the only time my dream pick was a mere possibility destroyed by the one and only Terry Bogard. A great character that pays tribute to company that was a giant in its days. I absolutely love the character in terms of playstyle and a command list that pissed many people off. At least I got Metal Slug tracks but damn.
4/5 Smash Logo
Byleth- I thoroughly enjoy Fire Emblem and I was ok when Byleth was reveal. Though I would be disingenuous if i didn't say that it was probably not the ideal choice to end the fighter pass. In fact, I would say that the character actually had a negative effect on its series. However, I don't care about the reception or the community itself. I think that the character is unique enough to differentiate itself from its fellow compatriots and it is harmless in the grand scheme of things. Just not the ideal way to finish things off.

3/5 Smash Logo
Min Min- I don't like Arms and I sure as hell don't like Min Min. They should've stuck with the assist trophy because Min Min is my least favorite character in Arms. Haven't played her since the release and is more of an afterthought as DLC for me. The far better choice should've been Lola Pop, as I enjoy clown theme fighters. Alas, they went with this ramen chump.
2/5 Smash Logo
Steve- Completely inevitable. Minecraft is a generation defining game that is still played to this day by older and younger folk alike. People that I knew since middle school are still playing Minecraft. So I wasn't completely surprised that Nintendo WANTED this pick so badly that they were able to work something out with Microsoft. A great character that works and clearly shows that any pick is possible. Still won't play Minecraft.
5/5 Smash Logo
Sephiroth- I am in the camp that the only reason why he got picked was to rectify how Cloud DLC was treated in Smash 4. Square Enix was clearly up its own ass at the time and Nintendo had to flex that they can get anything done (as we will later learn). A great choice and it plays up on the rivalry that define many in the PS1 days.
4/5 Smash Logo
Pyra/Mythra- Never played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and still not planning to. Sakurai clearly wanted representatives for both Xenoblade and Arms, so I can't blame the guy for squeezing these picks in. I enjoy the characters and I like that they reimplemented the switch mechanic that use to belong to Zelda/Sheik. A fantastic playstyle and a nice touch to have Rex as a taunt.
3/5 Smash Logo
Kazuya Mishima- My all time favorite DLC so far. Nintendo really wanted this to happen and the message was clear the minute they let Ganondorf, the undisputed King of Darkness, get yeeted of a cliff by Kazuya Mishima. It's very obvious that Nintendo holds Tekken in such high regards that the pretty much forced Sakurai to implement a Tekken fighter. The Smash Community(both casual and competitive alike) needed to understand how powerful the Mishimas are. Not just in Tekken but how the Mishima playstyle define what Fighting Games would become. Street Fighter 2 may have started it but I remain firm that Tekken 3 became the catalyst of what the FGC is. Smash needed some good ass Tekken and Kazuya is here to deliver some Doryas.
5/5 Smash Logo
Sora- Now this is a great way to cap off Smash Bros. Sora is THE dream pick and while I don't really care for Kingdom Hearts, a LOT of people hold that series near and dear to their heart. Disney was the obstacle and the final triumph in terms of getting, what once thought of as impossible, a character in Smash. Great pick and the content Sora is bringing is nothing to scoff at.

Speaking of Ridley, here's a video comparing the Ridley we know from Ultimate and the unnoficial Ridley from Project M.
IMO both are good but Project M's Ridley has the better taunts.

Let's hope everything goes alright.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 13.0.1 patch notes released (this is the last patch for the game)
The Beefy Smash Dudes uploaded released a video shocase of Patch Notes 13.0.1
Unrelated to the patch notes, but I don't understand the point of speeding up the taunts. With a few exceptions, most of them had the right lenght. The fact that they made taunts cancellable completely removes the point of speeding them all up. Either make taunts cancellable or speed them up. You can't do both at the same time because that way it doesn't make any sense.
You can’t even use taunts online other than in arena matches. Why would they do that? What's the point of that?
