I'm scared to share a negative opinion (you know, because Internet), but I trust the people here are way more mature than most internet forums, so here goes.
Game Grumps has gotten stale for me. Ever since their Mario Golf series, I just kind of got... bored with their videos. Nothing is really "clicking" like it used to. The jokes are hitting their mark, and it just feels bland and boring watching an episode of theirs. I've talked with all my Game Grumps fan friends, and they've all had a similar experience of dropping off in viewing.
I can still go back and watch their great episodes and series like Mario Sunshine, Drakkhen, GUTS, etc., but I can't stand their new stuff. It feels like they're trying become the generic, popular LPer, almost like they're trying to emulate Pewdiepie. This is especially evident in their LPs of Five Nights at Freddy's 1 and 2 where they over-exaggerate all their reactions, and with the new end card where it's just like "LIKE COMMENT SUBSCRIBE", Along with them playing games like Goat Simulator (obvious Let's Player bait) twice. What annoys me the most about this was that this is exactly the type of stuff they were making fun of and said they didn't want to do when they first started Game Grumps, especially the "LIKE COMMENT SUBSCRIBE" thing. One reason Arin said he didn't want a facecam in videos was because he felt he would need to overreact to the camera. While you can argue it's to maintain the interest of the audience, Projared's video of the original Five Nights at Freddy's, in which he openly admits to being bored by the game, is still entertaining, due to him making jokes at the games attempts at "horror."
On another thing, I preferred the lack of editing in their earlier videos. Sometimes Barry can be funny, but I felt a lot of the appeal of early Grumps wasn't that I watching a webshow, but rather getting the feeling that I was sitting on the couch next to them. I feel like minimal editing really helped foster that. Now if feels like a webshow, which isn't bad, put it feels like some of the spirit is lost.
Also Egoraptor has just gotten annoying. His presence has simply turned me off from watching many Grumps videos ( last one I watched was Cliff Horse, which featured Ross, Dan, and Barry). He has a serious problem with not paying attention to the game, then blaming the game for not telling him what to do. Ironic when they make a joke about tutorial's being patronizing during the tutorial of Kirby's Air Ride, only to ask how to play when it ends. Annoying in Naughty Bear, when they spend 11 minutes trying to figure out how to burn a present. He also seems to have a burning hatred for 3D games, which gets aggravating to listen to when they play a 3D game (like Wind Waker).
/endrant
Sorry if that came off as whiny or anything like that, I was just trying to portray my feelings towards Game Grumps at the moment. I was a huge fan (been following them since Day 1), I am disappointed to say I've lost interest in them.
I'm sure Arin is a nice guy, but his internet persona is getting annoying. I can't judge him as a person, as I don't know him. I'm only judging what he has shown to me, which is a person who seems to hate any game released after 2000, and Sonic the Hedgehog games (even the generally well received ones).
I'm also sorry if I ruined the party by posting this, but I wanted to share my opinion of current Grumps.
Also, thanks for reading my wall of text.
