Not enough Rule 34
Awww... I found out the gunshot I thought I heard yesterday wasn't just my imagination or something that sounded similar.

I live near a Burger King where they have sort of a small fenced in area for their large dumpster. They lock it at night to keep people from throwing away larger objects instead of paying the dump to take them.

I guess somehow a coyote got in there, the employees called the police, and they ended up shooting it. Poor thing... I wish they could've just tranquilized him; no doubt he was just looking for some food.

That's pretty BS. It'll probably be served on the menu tomorrow.
Poor thing. :(

Those idiots shouldn't have called the cops in the first place, they should have called animal control. Cops will assert their power every chance they get, especially with something smaller/helpless/"lesser-than" being than themselves.

I would boycott that Burger King and your local power hungry cops :)

Unfortunately, we don't have animal control in my town anymore, so it is left up to the cops who I doubt are given any training at all in the matter. Heck... I wonder if they even have access to tranquilizer guns?

I only know this because I called the humane society a few years ago about a dog the owner had accidentally hit with her car. He had a large gash on his head and a swollen paw, but I heard her say they couldn't afford to bring him to a vet (most likely because, despite the fact she and her husband were dirt poor, they still felt the need to have four kids and three dogs).

They sent an officer there to make them get the dog medical attention but I wish they'd just taken him. He was one of the sweetest dogs I'd ever met.

Cops are power hungry idiots. They will do things as easily and quickly as possible. There are numerous ways to take down an animal without killing it. But those cops trigger fingers had probably been itching for a while. (I'm not a fan of cops if you can't tell, even though I haven't had any big trouble with them myself). I have no idea if they have tranq guns. They probably don't want to pay for them to go to class to learn. Everything is done the cheapest possible way these days.

It's really a shame that all the governments (city/state/country/county/anything I missed) are so screwed up right now. I'm assuming your town doesn't have animal control anymore because the economy is so awful. Otherwise, there's not really a reason to not have some sort of animal control specialist.

Another thing that gets on my nerves is people with no money having all these damn kids (and pets). If they don't have the money, they need to stop having kids and get rid of the pets. It's not fair to the kids, animals, or taxpayers.

Long animal/people rant
Sorry about all that. I was on a roll!
Kinda the same. Yeah I do hate the police, but I don't consider them all to be like that. Unfortunately there are those massive dicks that get caught on video (and then uploaded to YouTube) clearly abusing their power. Only 6 days ago in Portugal did someone gt killed on their motorbike from the police using guns. That's probably one the worst factors about police, them having guns and easily using them on civilian(police aren't armed with guns here). But again, there are those decent police officers being given a bad name.

As for the whole animal thing, I'm not so focused on that though do consider it a problem with the way they're killed for food(inhumanely) or dealt with(pest problem). As for pets, I think entertainment value is far more offensive and depressing. By that I mean, using them in a circus or putting them a zoo. WTF is a Lion doing in the UK?
And on top of that, the animals at the zoo look so depressed to even be there. Makes me feel so bad for them.
BARG.

So apparently I shouldn't trust my local humane society's website because Truffles was adopted. I'm so bummed.

While I was there I decided to visit the dogs and cats. I normally think Puggles are hideous, as are most dogs bred with pugs (I love pugs, though), but the one they had was just gorgeous and so sweet. I wanted to take her home! Pretty much all the dogs were actually very friendly and not scared at all. They had a Lab mixed with a Saint Bernard who was such a gentle giant.

I caved in the cat room and had to hold a big fluff ball who I could hardly lift xD She wasn't fat at all, just a very large cat.

I have to say I'm really glad to meet someone on the same page as me; a lot of people think I take animal welfare too seriously but I really view having pets as the same as having children. You'd better put their health and happiness above all else and understand you might need some major dollars to do so.

That family I talked about just drove me nuts with all the bad decisions they made and I realize that I actually forgot they had four dogs instead of three since I never saw the fourth one much. In one case they got rid of a rat terrier and replaced it with a new puppy of the same breed since it was attacking and killing the farm cats. Why did it do this? Because the husband thought it was funny to see him chase the cats and it ended up getting out of control.

I get that kids get into mischief and have accidents, but there was just total child neglect on their part. They live on a farm; farms are dangerous! There was one time when a very large and heavy metal door was take off the hinges and set aside until it could be worked on. As usual, the kids were playing unsupervised, and one of the boys knocked the door down on the little girl. Because they'd been in the ER so much the mom actually took her to an ER in a different town since she was afraid they'd get in trouble.

At one point the kids also got worms in their feet from not wearing shoes and stepping in manure.

There's plenty more incidents, but you get the point.
Have you called CPS?

(I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the "Sup kitty" sig :( )
Have people really lost brain cells in the past couple of years? Seriously. I have not seen people this stupid in a while.

"Oh, it's the very beginning of spring, why is there still snow here?"

I wish the day it turned spring the snow would just fly up to the sky and it just warms up to like the mid 60's or something. I don't know.
