Give it a couple of days and Activision will shut it down while later telling the public that they 'plan' on making another Crash game. When they never will.

I dont think they can shut the game down, as:

1. The game will be free to play. They couldnt even sell it if they wanted too.
2. There wouldnt be a reason to. Its fan made, therefor they cant sue them or forcefully take the game out of production.

Okay. Activision has made an update regarding on the crazy bandicoot. All they say is that they are 'exploring ideas' to bring back Crash. Thoughts anyone?

Have you ever heard of a project called Fighting is Magic? The devs even refused to take donations because they wanted the game to be absolutely free. Hasbro shut them down through seize and desist. Same has happened to pretty much every single big scale MLP fan game project.

Also, like Cosmyk said, Square is guilty of this too. In addition to the whole Chrono Trigger debacle, they killed off the live action FFVII fan series.

Granted, some companies are more lenient than others, but I don't see Activision being one of those.

I'd give it about six months or so if Activision even announces a new project after this announcement.

^ Funny title. Just give it a year or two if they even announce anything regarding on Crash bandicoot. I'm not holding my breathe for a new Crash Bandicoot game(even though I'd like to see a new game that has Crash back in his old routes).
