Cel shaded does sound fitting for a Chrono game.

Well, for Trigger, the artist for Akira Toriyama, of DBZ and Dragon Quest fame, so the cel-shading kind of comes with that territory.

Or they could make it look cartoonish like Blue Dragon whose art was also done by Mr. Toriyama.

True, true.

The main issue is that it shouldn't be super realistic, but it shouldn't look like a comic book either.

I've never played Chrono Trigger our Chrono Cross. If an HD remake is made and I play them, I doubt I'll play the original. I need to play them soon.

Trigger is easy to come across as like I said before, it's been ported twice already, not counting that it's also on PSN. If you have a DS or 3DS you can grab it any time and play it that way as well, and I believe the DS version has an ending and an extra area that the PSN version does not have. As for Cross, it's also on PSN.

I don't have any type of PlayStation or DS. I do plan on getting a 3DS at some point, though. LoZ:OoT remake has me wanting one. Now, A Link Between Worlds is out. :-)

Trigger is a fun RPG game. Its challenging at first, but once you get into the swing of things you are already in the adventure of a lifetime.

I agree. Chrono Trigger is a really unique RPG that really makes things interesting for anyone who might want to get into JRPG's.

Does the PSN or 3DS/DS versions have the Akira Toriyama cutscenes added in too? I have the PS1 port with FF4 added into it as well but for some reason the one bit that actually has text of someone talking it is in Japanese. I already know what they said but I'm just curious as to whether the ports have those animated scenes and if they are the ones in English.

As to the topic on hand, it would be fantastic to have Trigger as a HD remake. I would still enjoy the original SNES version but it would be nice to see that game not only with updated look but also to hear what the characters sound like to add more richness to the story.

I don't believe either version does if I were to go with what I remember off hand. I know at least the PSN version doesn't have much, if any of it because it's the exact PSone port we got when that first happened. As for the DS one, I can't say for sure 100 percent because I don't actually own that version. My sister has it and I've only played about half of it.

Well, I know with Chrono Trigger PSN, they added animated, hand drawn cut scenes that are pretty freaking cool. Those same cut scenes are in the DS port, plus a new (optional) final boss called Dream Eater.

I bought the DS port the day it came out to make sure I got the special edition that also came with a poster. I didn't even own a DS at the time, but I needed that poster.

Those cut scenes are the same one from the PSone port though. The optional boss may be added but the DS cut scenes are also the same as before on SNES I believe. The game was ported 6 years later with everything being pretty much the same. A few graphical updates that were possible because of the CD as opposed to a cartridge at best, but otherwise the same.

Yes, they are the same, and the DS version has the PS1 cut scenes and the monster farm.
I honestly don't see a need for it to be HD. Having those games as a downloadable title works perfect.
