Quote:but the video is clearly trying to invoke emotion over something that may not even be that big of a deal. We don't know, and won't know until it releases. People need to clam their tits until may when it releases and see what it really ends up being. Do the graphics in the story trailer suck compared to those in the 2013 trailers? Yes. Quite noticeably so, in fact. Has Ubisoft acknowledged this? Yes. Do they care? No. They lied to us for pre-order numbers. They promised us a true next-gen experience in terms of graphics and gameplay. Now they made it look like we're only getting the gameplay. Waiting for the game to be released is bollocks, though. Just look at Thief. If it wasn't for Fan Feedback, we'd have had a very different product. With QTE's.

Congratulations, you are doing exactly what I keep telling people makes no sense to do and completely ignoring why I said this is to be expected. You are talking about Ubisoft, the guys who are practically famous for pre-rendered trailers. Has any Assassin's Creed game ever looked as good as it's initial trailer? Obviously, the answer is no, do doing exactly what they normally do is problem why? It's because people cannot accept the fact that things are done with the intent of selling things to people in the same way any big business does it. The only reason they even had to say anything about it at all is because people like you won't stop raging like fools. It's advertising, that's how it works. By the way, did you even look at that gamingbolt link I posted? You might be surprised what you see.

They weren't pre-rendered, you do know that right? They were extended gameplay trailers, featuring in-game footage of things actually happening by someone pressing buttons. Just like with Aliens: Colonial Marines.
And just because they want to sell games doesn't mean they get to be assholes about it. I mean, lying to their customers is okay to you?

Yeah okay, they weren't pre-rendered. I only bring that up to say that if you see anything change in a Ubisoft game, it should come as no surprise. I still say you need to check that link as well. Here it is again: http://gamingbolt.com/watch_dogs-on-ps4-...r-happened

I feel like people are really blowing the differences out of proportion. One thing people have been doing is comparing the nighttime of the older demos and the daytime of the new demo, of course the night is going to look better, there are a lot more chances to show off cool looking lighting effects. The explosions look pretty similar to me.
And there are things like time of day and weather that people don't put in as variables. That said, it does look worse, it's something to complain about, but it's nothing to throw a massive shit-fit over.

It's weird how everyone seems okay to be getting an inferior product to what was promised to them at a time when pre-orders were going live ...

It just looks a little worse, I wouldn't really call that inferior. Unless somebody confirms that something like gameplay or AI takes a significant hit, than this is fine by me. The game is a work-in-progress and things are subject to change, for better or for worse. If the end product is still good, than I see no reason to be angry.

I can't help but feel like you are too busy being angry to look at, or listen to anything you don't want to hear. If you feel like changing that let me know, but talking to you as you are now is obviously a waste of time.

The thing is that you should be angry at these kind of business practices. Just like we were angry at BioWare breaking all of their promises in regards to Mass Effect 3's story resolution. Or how a lot of big name devs going in to Free to Play are corrupting the formula for a quick buck (I.E. Dungeon Keeper). Or how they implement microtransactions in a $60 game as if the game was F2P. Or how they hide the best cars behind a paywall. The Watch_Dogs thing is just a small part of a much bigger problem.

You know, having lived in a time where this
was the peak in graphical design I find complaining about graphics completely pointless.

Personally, I often can't see the difference between HD's. Or hell, sometimes I can barely notice the difference between 480p and 780p on Youtube. I'll appreciate it if something looks beautiful, but Minecraft can be just as beautiful as Watch_Dogs, so graphics only go so far for me as well.

I just want it to look as good as it did during 2012 on PC.

Dorkly made a comic about it. |
