My dad has watched Pacific Rim on repeat multiple days recently. That's some strong boredom. I'm trying to get him to try some new stuff but he's not really a gamer. I'm gonna see if Spore works and see from there.
Anyone got any ideas? He's like me but probably would prefer less twitch reaction kind of games. That's why I chose Spore for one of the games.

Kirby and New Mario are good places to start.

Racing games are generally fun. If he likes a good puzzle, have him play Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and watch the smoke roll out of his ears.

If your dad doesn't like game that would require fast reaction time, I'd suggest an RPG or an Animal Crossing sort of game.
My Dad always loved games, even before I was born and turned out to be the little game lover myself, but he has post-polio so as he got older, his muscles in his hands got worse and he couldn't play things like Mario and fighters with me anymore. But he LOVES FF7 and Animal Crossing. But I don't know if those would fit your Dad's personality.
