There have always been a lot of Final Fantasies being released in a close proximity of each other. Just check the entire series' page on Wikipedia. You just don't hear about them that much since they aren't as hyped as the ones we're getting now.

I really don't see them dabbling with the Fabula Nova series anymore, XV is going to be like sixth already.

In addition to what Psycho and Repentant said on the previous page, they just announced, at E3, that they have created a whole new subsidiary designated on creating a completely new RPG IP. The team's called Tokyo RPG Factory.

I kind of hope you're right on that second point. We really do have enough games from that series. It's time for them to move on after this one comes out.

Psycho, I know that it ain't gonna happen, but can a guy dream that it will happen? Honestly. Square has other IPS for their RPGs that they could work with. Like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Secret of Evermore. Surely there are people who would like to see these games return. I know I'd like to see a new Chrono game for the 3DS.

They tried that with Chrono. They ported Trigger with all the features, a little bit more, and some nice DS interface to test the waters. Game did terribly.

Its a nice pipe dream, but these series leave such a legacy and expectation that its much safer to simply let them rest, to be their own legend, and to push their legacy into other titles.

Think of Bravely Default. Not all games do well with sequels. An rpg is there is tell its story. Once that has happened, its served its purpose. Its time to move on. That is why there were so many different titles back in the ps1 era. Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross (which though related is considered a different series), etc. etc. etc.

I've already moved on from it, but it wouldn't hurt to go back to that universe once in awhile. Admit it. A new Chrono game for the 3DS will be pretty awesome. Although, a spiritual successor to any of the games I mentioned can't hurt can it?

Secret of Evermore is essentially just an American Secret of Mana.

The Mana series has been regularly getting sequels. The latest game in the series released in 2014. Going on a tangent here, why do people like Secret of Mana so much? The sequel, Seiken Densetsu 3, is a much better game with a more gripping story, yet it is almost never talked about. IMO, Secret of Mana is a boring game with a combat system that goes against it's own mechanics.

And the Mana series is basically a Final Fantasy spinoff anyway, of which we are getting plenty. What I'm saying here is that if they were to publish a new Mana game today it would be a totally different game than the originals, just like Final Fantasy.

Definitely FFXV. While it's cool that FFVII is being remade, I already know what to expect. But FFXV is looking to be awesome.

My thoughts exactly. I just wish we could get some release window. We still hear 2015, but I'm not buying it right now. The game wasn't even at the Square conference, and games that are coming out next year got a release window. I have a feeling FFXV is going to be something great, but I wish we had something to go on.

I played the hell out of that demo. I was pretty shocked when it got an update. I think that's the first time I ever had a demo do that.
