They really said that? Oh dear LORD. They could at least have had someone that was not a 2-year-old write the script. I couldn't help but laugh at so many points only because of how bad the story really was. Sure, it wasn't anything deep in the previous games but at least those had some actually fun gameplay to balance that.
A few things I completely forgot from my rant: The QTEs. Even they were easy as hell, the time almost literally stopped for you to press the button, pretty much negating the whole idea behind a quick time event. Then there were those seemingly random parts when Ryu goes all "it hurts" and just slows down the already boring and unimaginative game even more. What about how extremely linear that game was? You get this cool new "ninja sense" and what good does it do? Tell you to go straight in a straigh hallway? Oh really, thanks game, I would've been completely stuck without that. The game even reminds you of that every couple of minutes and when I decided to turn off the on-screen tutorials IT TURNED OFF THE BUTTON PRESS DISPLAY OF THE QTES! One of the most ridiculous design flaws I've seen.

Story in games like those aren't really needed, but obviously if it has, it should be a decent one. A story, even if simple, helps us immerse in those fantasy worlds and have an enjoyable entertainment. So those complaints are valid imo. It doesn't even need to be fucking complicated; just believable and interesting enough (a thing that apparently, Ninja Gaiden 3 failed to pull off correctly).

I bought into this games hype and how it was suppose to be amazing and bought it first day then promptly thought shit I just wasted sixty dollars. The story is generic game play is repetitive and easy, its riddled with glitches and suffers from frame rate slow down. Now recently people told me this was fixed with patches so since I was already half way through the damn game I patched and played and still suffered glitches, frame rate slow down and boring repetitive combat. Beat the game and gave it away so some one else can suffer the most over hyped RPG of all time.
So yeah I hate Skyrim.

I had that initial reaction to the button display too, but I got over it right away when I realized that I could mash buttons and still win the fights anyways.

I actually thought at first that the ninja sense would hep you find alternate paths and secrets or something. That would actually have been cool. But no, it serves no purpose whatsoever. Oh, and I could mash my way through the battles just fine without it, I meant the cutscene QTEs. Those were also gone when you turned the thing off.
Removal of gore and de-limbing? What version of the game do you have? Like, country and all? I have the PAL PS3 version and it certainly has gore and people losing their limbs, even more so than what was in the PAL Sigma 2. It was propably the only improvement I saw in the game.

Well, the gore was still there, plenty of blood flying around. No de-limbing, though. Izuna Drops didn't even instakill or decapitate enemies.
I own a US copy for the 360.

Hmm... I guess it could be a regional difference. I know that the PAL versions of the first two games (at least Sigmas) were definitely toned down in the graphic violence department.

Oh you got me there. I guess the difference is that CoD has nothing really going for it other than the story because the gameplay isn't anything special, whereas Ninja Gaiden has a stronger emphasis on gameplay and challenge.
So for CoD: Generic shooter but may as well make a story...which they tried and I could follow.
For: Ninja Gaiden: Top notch gameplay(I haven't played 3 yet) but slap on some story.
NG2 in a nutshell is kill the bad guy and save the boobs
I think it also comes down the genre. Hack and Slash games like Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden 2 and DMC are generally mindless fun. But there are some like DmC, MGR:R and Darksiders which have a pretty good story, some games don't really need it so they get a pass on a poor story like the NG series.

If you really plan on doing this I strongly suggest waiting for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 3. From what I've heard Razor's Edge improved practically nothing and only added a few weapons and an extra chapter. Making the crapfest of a game longer isn't exactly an improvement anyway. Third time's the charm, I hope.

I'm going to start with everyone's favourite. Brink.
Now, I'm not going to lie, I tried to like Brink, I saw it's flaws, but it wasn't that bad, the game deserved more than a 6 from IGN in my opinion, it's not GOTY material, but it's not that bad, 7.5/10 is what I'd give it.
That was until, I came to level Shipyard. The worst level of any FPS video game ever.
It starts out simple, go and repair the crane. With a 10 minute time limit, now, on my team, we have a team of about 5, and 3 of us are engineers, so we can all repair the crane, it's easy because of the spawns, and the fact the repair percentage goes down very slowly.
Then comes the next part. You start off very far away from the objective, and have to run about half a mile to get to it. Once you do, it is a very enclosed space, with no way of camping, no way of hiding, and literally you can't do anything. You get to the objective, start hacking, and then die, your teammates die, because their AI is terrible, and can't do anything, and you can't attack while hacking.
Now, this wouldn't be bad, if not for a few more reasons. You are now the worst class ever, you're not a engineer, you're some sort of hacker, who has terrible weapons and abilities, as opposed to a medic that can heal, or any other class. Another problem is the other team. They spawn about 10 feet away from the objective. So, you kill them, start hacking, and BAM, you're dead because they spawn so damn close. Then, because engineers can undo hacking, and 3 of them are on the other team, when you die, they rush over to unhack your work, and your team can't help because they're dead, you can't do anything because your team dies early, and even if you did get to hack the machine. YOU DIE ABOUT 10 SECONDS AFTER BECAUSE OF THE RETARDED SPAWNS.
Other games have made me angry, but this is just full blown retarded.
So, all in all, the level is impossible without help.

Ha yeah. That game was meh at best. The best part is, is that I bought it for £2 when game had to get rid of their stock; that and I friends to play with which all we did was screw around. Interesting concept, badly executed.

I can handle crap games so it doesn't really bother me that much. Even with all the hate NG3 got, I still plan on playing it. I've never taken NG seriously so it's hard to be disappointed by the series. Plus, one of the biggest complaints with NG3 is that the game is too easy...even thought one of the biggest complaints with NG2 is that it's too hard. So I just don't listen to gamers. Not only that but LOOOOOL WiiU exclusive, how'd that work out Nintendo? Less reason to get a WiiU. I did play the demo that was recently released and yeah, look and felt OK.

L.A. Noire
When this game was first announced, I was really hyped about it. Finally, a adventure game where I could be a detective and solve crimes by interrogating witnesses, finding evidence, and delivering swift justice to the bad guys. I imagined the game was like Phoenix Wright except set in the 40s and the main character was something out of a Tex Murphy game. It would be a few months before I had a chance to experience the dark and violent crime thriller, and at first I was having a good time finding evidence and rotating it around to see the smaller details, then using that knowledge to finger the guy who committed the crime, and taking them down in a high speed chase. Everything was going smoothly until the game removed my tutorial training wheels and gave me my first case in traffic.
I was investigating an abandon car with a missing owner, and the entire dashboard was covered in blood. After sweeping the area for clues and questioning the guy who found the car I started to question the car owner's wife, and this is where L.A. Noire takes a turn for the worse. The interrogating system is borderline garbage. Each interrogation feels like a final exam that I'm never prepared for. Literally every question/topic/thought you present to the witness/suspect/anybody works out like this:

NPC: (One to two lines of dialog either very straight to the point but wrong somehow or in a vague way/information you can't really judge on and is the truth.)
Truth? Doubt? Lie?
Everything that is discussed in this game has to be judged, and sometimes the game makes you judge some information that you don't even know anything about yet; even better sometimes you have to make a call on some of the dumbest lines of dialog like this one, because the game is so heavily dependent on the whole 'poker face' mechanic that you can pretty solve most cases by looking for shifty eyes.
And here's the real kick in the teeth, what happens if you're wrong or second guess yourself? You can't explore that line of questioning anymore; it's blocked out unless you restart from checkpoint. And here is what makes me hate this game, you can't try again or bounce back to the same question nor can you revisit interrogations unless you start over. Also the game is constantly telling you you're wrong by giving sound queues and reminding you of how many questions you got right. Even if I were to go back and work it out, I don't feel rewarded nor do I feel like I'm making any progress. This game tries to combine an adventure game mechanic with some kind of an arcade mechanic and it's doesn't work well at all.
What I thought I was playing:
What I got was a quiz show with a fedora.
