You'll need to specify a source for your submission so we can review it so go ahead and make it now. That will help us quickly verify the information when we find it in the queue.

I like how quickly our questions are being answered/addressed! (Yes, I went through all 8 pages)

-Someone previously stated that it would be cool to have a tag for us DYKG Originals. I agree with that. Like where some have "Moderator" "Administrator" etc, maybe we could get one of those? Or even some sort of small icon around our avatar area. (side note: maybe we can "collect" small icons that display below our username, if the "group" thing ever gets going- For example, I could get DYKG Original, Zelda fan, The Sims fan... things like that. Is this making any sense?)

-Is a downloadable mobile app possible?

Okay, so I went through the options and user-created groups aren't possible with MyBB. Public groups are but they need to be created by an admin.

As for DKYG badges, I'm leaning against it. It's nothing personal against any of you guys but since this is a joint effort between a couple of sites, we'd then need to make tSR badges as well and then pretty much everyone would have something there and it would require a lot of manual group moving. I realize you guys are actually migrating here entirely and tSR is not, and that's something I'll take into consideration but I'd like to discuss it with the rest of staff first.

What I may do, if some sort of DYKG original designation is deemed appropriate, is create a publicly-joinable group with moderated members, assign one of the originals (maybe you, Cuccos, or the one who originally suggested it?) the moderator position of the group, and have them approve joins from original members so I don't actually have to keep shuffling people around.

However, like I said, this isn't a definite thing. Just a proposed solution should it become definite in the future.

Oh, and as for downloadable mobile apps, are you talking about the forum or the site as a whole? Forum-wise, there's a special mobile theme that works well already. Site-wise, it does function on mobile devices but can be a little difficult to navigate on small screens, I admit. I'm not familiar enough with iOS or Android programming to create a native app though.

Edit:
I forgot to mention that you can, in the mean time, obviously use your custom title to display your DYKG original status.

Ok cool. I didn't know so much was going on. I came back from a weekend away and kind of got thrown over here haha. I'm slowly understanding what's happening! I'm just glad my question made sense haha. I totally agree that the rest of the staff should have an input. I didn't realize other forums were coming over too.

That original-moderated group sounds fun. I don't think I would be a good mod though. I do recommend BumblebeeCody, SERIOUSLY THOUGH or A Zombie Riot if it does go through. They're way better than I would ever be.

As for the mobile app, I was mostly asking for the forum. I just checked through 'safari' on my phone and it works well, so I retract that request :P

The moderator of a user group is really just there to approve join requests so I'd need someone who know who the original members were. I wouldn't want to use site staff for that since it would be an additional task on top of their existing ones. Other than group member management, no moderation duties or abilities are granted by the position.

Oh I get it now. I don't know why all this is so confusing for me, but thanks for putting up with all my questions! Yeah if it goes through, just tell me what to do and how to do it. I think I can handle that.

Personally, I feel like making the groups be separate to begin with drives a rift down the middle of the forums.

I know that with the closing of DYKG this is essentially DYKG 2.0 (plus tSR expansion pack) but at the same time, it's also the merging of two communities to create one super-community.

I feel like making the distinction between them would have non-DYKG users be seen as outsiders intruding on the original users' space, when in reality, this isn't DYKG at all; it's an entirely new forum. All of us should be equal within this new space, if that makes sense.

It'd be cool for us oldfags.

Don't 5get about me.

You know, I've always thought this was just DYKG 2.0, since I've never heard of this, and thought it was just DYKG making another site or something, or joining an original one with a forum full of us. I understand what you mean, as it's like saying al the countries that made up Poland, should have some sort of badge for the original people who lived in those countries.

I think the idea above would be nice, just a group or something.

It was you! You're totally right! I'm so sorry. Please still love me.

I never heard of this site until I came back from the weekend and was bamboozled.

I think a badge would be cool but I do agree that adding a group would divide the forum. It would seem like an inner circle of people that alienates those outside. I'm honestly not that fussed though.

This was really supposed to be an important part of my original reply and I don't know how I forgot to include it. You said it well though, better than I had planned to so I'm just going to add this to my list of concerns.

The more I think about it, the more I realize what y'all are saying. The group thing might put out the wrong impression. But I still like the badge idea. A little something (maybe just a small icon) by our username/avatar, or even to put in our signature? I would throw one together by i'm not good at that sort of thing.

You know, it's kind of funny to think about. Over on DYKG, there are probably like 1300 people who registered and only like 20 of them are active.

I see that on here, we're close to like 500 already and I can't even count how many active people there are. Of course, this has only been open to the public for a couple of days, so when months and months come by, it might die down a little (I hope not, anyways).

I think the best way to acknowledge the original people from DYKG is just putting something either in the custom title or in the signature. I don't really think we need a whole group for it.

The group is the only way to do the badge. Like I had suggested before though, you can always use your custom title for this purpose as well.

I'm not fussed either way. Having an acknowledgment of those who come from DYKG would be nice, but it shouldn't be too glaring. We know who we are in any case !
