Phoenix Wright related
OH MY GOD IS PHOENIX'S VA THE SAME AS AKIHIKO'S?!

You are so right; he's a terrible fit. Thank goodness the game is still mostly text.

I am loving all the movement that the characters can do on the 3DS now, but Phoenix's "defeated" face where he's sweating looks really, really bad in 3D.

The first case was fun, but I never learn and have the same issue as I did in the previous games by solving the crime too far ahead of time and presenting evidence earlier then the games wants by trying to prove what happened. It did not like me trying to pick out the culprit as soon as I did (first cases are always soooo obvious).

Never realized the 3DS drains battery like a succubus so already had to charge it early on during the second case. However, my enthusiasm is gone now that I'm playing as Apollo. Blech.

5-2 is awful. It's the weakest case of the game and honestly is pretty low down on my case rankings overall.

5-3 is pretty cool if you like high school animes, it's basically one. Plus you get to see Phoenix as a mentor which is pretty cool.

5-4 and 5-5 are joint cases. Switching between Apollo for 5-4 and Phoenix for 5-5. It's okay I guess, a decent finale.

DLC is just wacky, so have fun with that.

Not a lot of time to play today, but I think I'll get through the second case because I really like Athena, plus Jinxie and her dad are alright too. If I can just find ONE character to latch onto I can make it. That never happened with Apollo Justice, which is why I suffered so much.

Yeah, Athena is pretty cool if you don't read into her being a "Mary Sue"

The third case should definitely be to your liking though, it has a wide variety of characters.

2 weeks and a day.

Can hardly wait.

Really interesting to see Trucy as a defendant. Might be a fun Case 2, and a case Apollo Justice should've had in it's game.

Here's hoping the cases go something like this.

Phoenix Case 1
Apollo Case 2
Athena Case 3
Phoenix Case 4
Apollo/Phoenix/Athena Case 5

Plus the two DLC cases with Apollo and Phoenix.

Because of the lousy 3DS battery life I've only gotten just a bit past the part when the Mayor gets "possessed".

OH MY GOD DO I LOVE THE NEW PROSECUTOR. Give me a falcon gimmick over that stupid air guitar any day; when it perched on the judge's head was freaking hilarious.

Also... Fulbright is my husband for this game. I miss Gumshoe, but I really like him for some reason, even though he's just a new kind of dimwit. Ahhhhhh can't wait to see what this game has in store for me! Even Apollo is more tolerable with Trucy just hanging out at the law office for now.

Ah man, you don't know how I feel about that. I loved Fulbright as well.

He was such a great character, there's a funny part in the 3rd case that suits his character so well.

IN JUSTICE WE TRUST!

Also, if you have the DLC play it before the 4th case.

Sorry to be posting here so much but I didn't realize just how badly I needed another Phoenix Wright game in my life, even if I'm not happy with how the games are handled in the US.

Forgot to mention that I'm a bit bummed out that you can't investigate every object like you could in the other games. I liked to hear the character's thoughts and now I feel like I'm speeding through areas because the game holds your hand so much in telling you when it's time to investigate and even telling you if something is worth looking at or if you've already checked it.

See, I'm the type of person who likes to hear all that extra dialog, even if it isn't useful. I'm still presenting every piece of evidence I have to people, so it's too bad character profiles aren't presentable too. The game also seems to think that I'm stuck if I press every statement, giving me a clue after the last one that I don't need.

I hope as the cases continue they'll do something else to make the game more difficult.

Also booo to needing to pay for the extra case, but I did it.

Yeah, the investigations were made much easier with less to click because before you could click anywhere on the screen and Phoenix would say "Nope, nothing here" or something like that. IDK why they thought people were retarded enough to not select everything that looks suspicious and then some more just for some funny conversations and/or accidentally moving the story forward.

IIRC there are some stupid parts of the game where you just randomly choose something and it turns out to be the right evidence because there's a picture inside the picture that proves what they're saying is wrong, or you have to guess a location that's outside the floor plans.

There's two DLC cases in the other game, by the way. So get that money ready.

Grrrr... If not for sleeping so much I would have totally finished the game before going to work today. I know I'm nearly done with the last case and then I'll play the DLC (Forgot to play that first ><).

I have to say... I'm very, very disappointed. I felt like I was just reading a book on my 3DS. I wish I'd kept track, because it seems like I've presented barely any evidence and the characters just moved the story on all by themselves or needlessly held my hand by telling me exactly what I needed to do. There were also too many points where I was just allowed to try again rather than receiving any penalty to put the pressure on.

There's also too many characters now. It's been all about cameos rather than anything to do with character development until this final case. Honestly, I feel nothing for Athena and Simon even though I do like them. There wasn't this huge, shocking buildup over 3 games like with Maya where I learned more about her and actually nearly cried when her life just kept getting sadder and sadder. Heck, even Edgey's sad past had an impact in the first game because after and during cases he started talking to Phoenix more and more so you were at least curious about him.

Very happy to see Edgey, but his "Objections!" sound like Pete from Goof Troop. Really bad dubbing all around. Cripes. I love what a fop he sounds like in the Japanese anime dub.

Oh, and the M rating is BS. Cartoony blood that appears only for a few moments warrants an M rating? Feh.

You have no idea how painful it was for me to see you enjoy Fulbright as a character, I just couldn't say anything, especially with what I knew. Also, shame you didn't play the DLC case before the last, enjoy meeting Fulbright as an actual detective again, it won't be fun.

But yeah, the game was an odd step down from what you'd expect for a Phoenix Wright game, I still enjoyed it and it had some fun cases, plus the DLC was interesting.

I'm really hoping Spirit of Justice is a step up from DD, and I can spend some more time playing as or being with Phoenix, because now we're getting 5 cases in two different places, and knowing this game. I'll be getting something like Phoenix, Apollo, Athena, Apollo, Phoenix again, when I'd rather have Phoenix, Apollo, Phoenix, Apollo/Athena, Phoenix.

It's a shame there aren't any mixups. I'd love to see Apollo and Athena have to partner with Maya for some reason or another. It'd be pretty funny.

Also 1 week guys. 1 WEEK UNTIL SPIRIT OF JUSTICE

^ LMAO. Thank you for not even hinting at anything being amiss; I went into this game totally blind. ...After Adachi I really should learn I shouldn't trust detectives. Ha.

I still go back to the first three games and Edgey's spin-off sometimes. I sadly think Dual Destinies will join Apollo Justice in the pile of games I'll never touch again. It's too bad the DLC case actually out-shined the entire main game! There were actually twists that I could have never guess unlike the main game only having the Phantom thing as a mystery. You just knew Simon was going to end up being cleared and that Athena never really did anything wrong. Plus it was always super obvious who the real culprits were for cases until the final one.

But, of course, they had to slap me in the face again. Here I was hyped about getting the kits to check for blood and fingerprints in the DLC and they only give me a very specific area to examine for blood and let Pearl do the rest. GRRRRR! I had a blast checking every single place in the last case of the first Phoenix Wright game with Emma.

Since I could have just read about what happens in this game instead of playing it and still pretty much gotten the same experience, I'll wait on the next game until you guys try it and can tell me what the game play is like. I just can't stand how severely it was dumbed down and there were zero instant game over moments if I pressed or presented something wrong.

Did a lot of people actually complain that the original Phoenix Wright games were too hard? I was still in school when they started being released and the only time I had an issue was because of how tiny Nintendo likes to keep the screens on their handhelds. I finally gave up and looked for help online to discover I totally missed that there was something sticking out of the tailpipe of Edgeworth's car I had to grab. That was it.

I want free reign to look for blood and fingerprints. I want to have to look through a video and point out things. I want to put something together. MAKE ME NEED TO ACTUALLY INTERACT WITH THE FREAKING GAME.

Plus... Do Apollo and Trucy not know they're siblings still and who their mother is? That twist was beyond stupid in Apollo Justice with really no reasoning as to why these two kids have been kept in the dark and it's too cruel of Phoenix to keep it up.

Oh, and was it Edgey's second game we never got where I've seen a shot of him and Phoenix clinging onto each other in fear while they're screaming? I was looking so forward to seeing that but it must not be from Dual Destinies.

Yeah, no problem. I wasn't spoiled on it and I felt the twist was better. Although, I did see a picture of Fulbright with a stab wound on the floor, which I glanced at for a second then immediately went away. It looked like an in game picture so I thought Fulbright was going to be killed. It was nice to know that

Yeah, fair enough. DD was an alright game, it's mid tier. Barely making it above JFA and AJ for me (and possibly AAI, even I forget my rankings for the games). As for the culprits bit. The first and second case reveal the culprit, the third case has a very obvious person as the culprit and the 4th case is just the intro to the 5th case really. Although, I somehow didn't even notice the real culprit of the third case as the culprit until the game told me. So I guess that was a nice surprise, even though it was obvious.

The game has been dumbed down to a ridiculous level imo. Being able to check everything was a fun thing to do in the game, sure the ability might still be there and they've just removed blank spaces. But I like to think they hide less in there than they would've if they let you explore the whole screen.

I still think the game should be played, sure reading it might give you the story but honestly it would ruin the whole thing for me. As weak as DD was, playing it is a much better experience that reading it. Also Spirit of Justice should be a superior game, they're apparently making it harder, and trust me I've played the demo and I was stuck on a moment for 10 minutes, and this was the first case.

I don't even know to be honest. I know people were pissed at how convoluted some of the testimonies were like in Case 2-1 where the victim somehow wrote the killer's name in the sand while he snapped his neck upon impact, or how profiles were introduced and you had to present yourself several times to prove something wrong. Hell, I couldn't even FINISH the first case of 3-1 because I had no idea you could present pictures.

I never really missed anything investigation wise (although, looking back I did miss a lot in 2-4 and couldn't finish that case), but there were moments where I would just be super confused with what the next step was and no one would give you a hint. Such as proving Gourdy is fake in 1-4, or having to present a profile picture YOU JUST GOT to advance the plot in 3-2.

Nope, they still don't know they're brother and sister, and Phoenix does still know this information. I'm still waiting for them to get married, behind Phoenix's back while he's away in Kurain and for Phoenix to come back shocked at the whole situation and confused at what to do next.

Honestly, that entire premise feels like a Seinfeld episode.

I'm not sure what the Phoenix/Edgeworth screaming shot is though. Might've been the anime or from Spirit of Justice. Phoenix doesn't appear in any of the AAI games.
