Don't kill me, but... I'm not really digging it. It feels a little too "out there" for my taste.

I done been listening to a lot of Alestorm because their pirate metal soothes me. Been moving onto other metal recently such as Baroness and Agalloch.

No worries man, to each his own. If you're not digging it, that's cool. I can totally see why some people wouldn't like it though. It's a rather huge departure from their older stuff. Honestly, I cannot stand "Within" or "Doin it Right", and even though Giorgio by Moroder is, in my opinion, one of their greatest songs I don't see myself listening to the full 9 minutes every time I hear it.

Giorgio by Moroder really liked that song though. Along with Get Lucky (Pharrell Williams I do like) as well as Contact but everything else...:(
To be honest, I honestly didn't know what to expect so I can't say I'm disappointed and I don't consider the other songs to be bad. What would you say is good about the album that I may have over looked?

How about some of the worst Eurovision songs ever?

Despite the fact that Daft Punk's claim to fame was how far they pushed the limits of producing EDM in house (meaning they didn't use a studio, they literally made their music in Thomas Bangalter's bedroom), they've decided that there isn't enough of the human touch in EDM anymore. As a result, they've made this album to reflect upon what made them want to make music in the first place, and made bringing back the west coast feel of the 60's and 70's music to present day EDM their main objective. They took their token style into the studio and for the first time used actual instruments, something that's practically unheard of in EDM these days.

I'm sure by now you know how many big name artists they've brought in to work with, so I won't go into that. If you don't know about who they've brought in, watch their series of short interviews with everyone (except Julian Casablancas, front man for The Strokes) they worked with on youtube. This album is basically a huge throwback, a love letter composed of funk, to the origin of funk/dance/electronic music. If you listen to the album knowing that, I think it will make a huge difference.

One thing I really enjoyed about this album is that unlike previous Daft Punk albums, no two songs are really the same. Homework's, Discovery's, and Human After All's tracks all fit within the same self contained genre. You can listen to Homework and say "Around the World and Phoenix are cut from the same cloth". Just about every track in Discovery shares the same hyper dancey tones and cut-up sampling. But with RAM, you can't really compare most of the tracks to each other. "Get Lucky" and "Lose Yourself to Dance" are easily the most similar to each other. But now try comparing "Get Lucky" to "Touch", or "Give Life Back to Music" to "Motherboard". Aside from the heavy use of vocoders (another thing I absolutely loved about this album), comparing each track is basically an apples to oranges situation.

Any fans of Jet Set Radio here?

Cause I found this cool site, that is a blog that posts Jet Set Radio music, and other music that have styles to Jet Set, and Ollie King.

Oh, and this, if you're a fan of Keygen.

And finally this, if you're a fan of Animal Crossing.

Dire Straits is great, I'm glad Knopfler paired up with Bob Dylan in October.

If only importing Privateering from the UK didn't cost me so much...

Love Dire Straits. Their debut album is still my favorite album they released. I find myself every now and then, just barely whispering, "6 blade knife, will do anything for you". Glad it ain't too loud, or I might wind up locked up.
