Amnesty urges Iran to spare hanging survivor's life

  • The condemned man, named as Alireza M, was found alive in a morgue after being hanged at a jail in the north-eastern city of Bojnord last week.
He is now being nursed to recovery in preparation for his repeat execution.

Let me get this straight - they're nursing this bloke back to health so that they can execute him. Don't they realise how totally absurd that is?
  • "The verdict was the death sentence, and it will be carried out once the man gets well again," an official said.

Meh. He should be let free. Death by hanging? What is death? I bet he was dead for a little while, before kinda, not being dead. Does that make sense? Like when in the ER, a doctor will be like "Yeah, you died for a few seconds, but came back." Point is, they hanged him, and he probably died. Let 'im go.

Haha, I'm staying out of politics' way, man. I did two years of debate in high school and then two more in college. I've had enough for one life.

That's actually a very good point ! He should be able to argue that he was officially declared dead by the doctor and that he has therefore carried out his sentence.

"The world's first completely preserved adult hominid skull from the
early Pleistocene era looks surprisingly different from other skulls of
the same era, yielding a remarkable insight: Man’s early ancestors
appeared as physically diverse as humans do today, researchers said, and
our family tree has perhaps fewer branches than today's schoolbooks
teach."

  • [...]two brothers surnamed Mak, approached Bay and demanded the equivalent of $12,900, according to a police spokeswoman. It was unclear why they demanded the money[...]

"Hey Mak Won*?"
"Whaddup Mak Tu*?"
"Michael Bay is in town, I think we should exhort him to give us some money."
"How much, though? A million? TWO million?"
"No... Today we are kings. Today we ask for... $12,900"
"Awwww goddamit Mak Won, this is about that realistic perv-doll again isn't it?"
*audience laughter and applause as Mak Won winks at the camera*

*Given names are purely hypothetical

Also, I can't believe that even during a rant about an attack, Bay is likely obliged to name drop some sponsors. The part about the Nike shoes sounds like something out of The Onion.

That awkward moment when you realise that several different ancient species are actually all the same.

Joking aside, this is what science has always been and what science will always likely be in the future.
  1. Have a theory
  2. Present theory
  3. Theory widely accepted as the evidence is sound
  4. New research debunks old theory and new one takes its place
  5. Rinse and repeat

I can totally see you becoming a lawyer specialising in unearthing loopholes.

My mom wanted me to be a lawyer really bad. Lawyers are incredibly depressed a lot. I don't need that crap. Nor do I need to go to college that long. I'm very fine with becoming the manager to some chain somewhere and making lower-middle class wages to pay for an apartment that only has my desktop and food. I seriously don't need anything other than my desktop and some food. But you do make me wanna share some hilarious cases I ran in debate. Debate is such a joke it made me sick. I wasn't the only one who thought of stuff like that. The whole GAME revolves around seeing if you can find some stupid loophole that'll outsmart the opponent. It was never about actually discussing the subject, it was just a game to see who was more clever.

A man whose cat has been missing receives a letter from folks who claim to have taken her: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...paign=1490

Obviously this is an asshole thing to do, but at the same time, I wonder if they were upset about the cat being allowed to roam in such a hazardous area? She did lose a leg after all. Stealing her was not the right solution but that's my take on why they might have done it. I know I've called the police twice over animal abuse in my area.

I'd like to think that the cat is in a happy new home, though taking her was a terrible thing to do. That guy seems to really like his cat :(
