What's Yo Favorite Games, Yo?
#1
(Just realized there wasn't really an opening to the thread, just throwing you guys/girls right in, but I'm lazy so this will do.)

Their is actually two reasons for making this thread:

1) I have to make a report on anything for my English Class, so obviously, I chose video games. I'm going for a "Progression of Gaming" type essay, so what I'm asking is your favorite game of all time, and your favorite game of now, meaning the game you always go to when you got nothing else to do. For Instance, My favorite game is Earthbound, and my favorite game of right now is Terraria.

B) I'm actually interested in what kind of games people play, and the gap of games from all-time favorites to current favorites. This will also help with the "research" for the essay.

And before someone says that there is already a "Your Favorite Games Thread," I'm asking all time and current favorite, not just general favorites. A more specific question.

Thanks in Advances.

Dead space 2 is my all time favorite game. I just love the whole atmosphere of the game, the creepiness of it, and shooting the limbs of the necromorphs. Speaking of necromorphs, there why I love playing this game. I just love the enemies in general. The design, the way they play out, and the strategies you need to make to kill some of them *Coughstalkerscough*

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is the game I play when I get bored. I like this game because... Well, its kinda hard to explain. I like how stages switch from one game to another, it just seems to interest me. The gameplay and just killing enemies with supers makes you have to get lucky or make a strategy to win, which I like. And, I dunno, thats pretty much it.

Yeah, I guess a "why I like them" is kinda important. It would add more fluff to it (the essay).

All time favorite is Sly Cooper. It's a fun platformer that has good charicters to complament a well thought out story. The lay out of the levels are done well that it's easy to find short cuts for fast speed runs. I still play it 4-5 times a year, that's how much I love it.

My curnet "Now a days" favorate would be Assassin's Creed IV. It's not a "Best Game of All Time" game, but it has really good gameplay, side charicters that you become attached to, and is really nice to look at. Each of the AC games have a way of weeving in real people and names that has you look them up to know more about them (EX. Rodrigo Borgia (Villan of AC2) was Pope Alexander VI, who was killed by his son, Cesare Borgia (villain of AC:B) in real life)

My favorite game of all time is a tie between Wind Waker and Super Mario Sunshine. I really like all of the bright happy colors in Sunshine, aswell as all of the level designs and the music is great too.

For Wind Waker it's the music, the cartoony art style, and I love being able to travel by sea to explore all of the different islands.

My current favorite is probably The Binding of Isaac, because of the dark, disgusting, and twisted tone of the game.

My all time favorite game is Cave Story. The music, the fluent gameplay, the multitude of powerups, interesting characters, a unique level up system, satisfying sound effects and minimalistic yet beautiful 2D graphics. This game got it all right in one go. I have yet to see another game that would have achieved such a feat. The main theme stays one of my favorite gaming themes of all time, too. The game was so good that I even went out of my way to get Cave Story+ and Cave Story 3D just to get more of the game with a different twist.

My current favorite is a tough call between Binding of Isaac (addictive luck vs. skill twinstick shooter gameplay) and Cthulhu Saves the World (Zeboyd's unique leveling up system, the fact that random encounters are only random to a certain amount, the epic music and the silly writing). These two I start playing every time I'm bored, and even if I wasn't.

Funny thing, though. None of what I have just said correspond to my actual favorite game series, Resident Evil. You'd think one's favorite game comes from one's favorite franchise.

My favorite game of all time is pretty much any tactical RPG, but if I had to pick just one, surprisingly, I'd go with Jeanne D'Arc for the PSP. It plays a lot like tactics which I really enjoy but it's also a very fun and colorful world to explore. The story is really interesting to, adding in fantasy elements to the French and English hundred years' war. Perhaps it's also the fact that I have heritage on both major sides of that war that makes me like a game representing it.

It may sound cliché, but Ocarina of Time is my all time favorite video game. The gameplay, graphics, music, atmosphere, storyline, characters, dialogue, the plethora of glitches, and everything in between. Every single aspect of this game is spectacular, and hence is why I believe it has such immense replay value.

As for a video game that I am currently favoriting the most, the title goes to Saints Row IV. I purchased it this past December and I have been playing it ever since. I doubted the game at first because I didn't particularly like the concept of having presidental status in the beginning. But once you enter the simulation of Steelport, however, it is pure, unadulterated fun. Every element of the game is ridiculous.

Halo 3. I just fell in love with it's multiplayer. And LAN games with two Xboxes in custom made maps... it was too awesome, man.

Suikoden 2 on the Playstation. Sure, it's a generic turn-based RPG, I know... But it's more than that.
108 characters to recruit. One of the most incredible stories I've ever read, played, or seen. Great humour. Really surprisingly deep gameplay mechanics compared to other turn-based RPGs.

It's one of the only games that has ever brought me to the point of actually having water leak from my eye sockets.

I like this dude. That game was awesome - really didn't get as much appreciation as it should have done. I don't like many T-RPGs, but this was one of them. Vandal Hearts, too.

Mother 3.

A preachy-ass game that somehow doesn't feel pretentious due to how damn funny it is, plus the combat has some neat quirks and THAT ENDING OH GOD

Pure Gameplay wise it would be Kingdom Hearts 2
