That one game you tried to like but couldn't.

Binding of Issac is a poorly built game that's style can't save its bad design.

When I was younger, my grandmother had the Zork series and I got into those books, but I just recently learned (yesterday, actually) that it was based off of a game. I tried the game (if you don't know, it's one of those text-based games), but I couldn't figure out what or how to do anything. I found a map, but the map ended up being wrong, and being an old game, you could only enter so many phrases that the game would register. That was probably the most annoying part.

Have you tried the Legacy of Goku games?

There's gonna be a remake with pixel graphics that is not made in Flash.

I also can't really bring myself to enjoy any Legend of Zelda, I just find them boring for some reason. And I've tried many times to enjoy some of the games. The most I've enjoyed LoZ was while reading Hyrule Historia, for some reason I love the lore.

^Oh yes, I have the same. I don't mind watching people play them, I've watched full playthroughs of the original and Windwaker but playing them myself? Bleh. I played the original LoZ for 5 minutes and gave up.

That's becuse the original two are the worst. I heard from other players that the first one has easyer puzzles (if you can call them that) and both of them really don't tell you where you need to go.

I don't like the Metriod games for the same reson. I don't need someone to hold my hand though a game, but a map would be nice to give me an idea of what I was doing. I spent a good hour or two looking around the game and I barely found anything and /I died a lot. I never even found a boss. Zero MissionKiuJiuMiu is a better game becuse we have a since of direction.

I wouldn't say it was that. It was just the overall everything. I've played a lot of NES games, still do, and it's not often I find something I just don't bother to even try to finish.

For me it's "Ok, I beat it. Now I guess I won't need to play it agien." It's the same thing with the original Mario. I beat it years ago and now I'm like "well that was...... something." I really don't understand everyone's love for a flawed, uninteresting game.

You really don't need to. The first one is bad and the second one is a whole lot better, but is really short.

I like how I got completely ignored because someone mentioned not liking starfox. Rather than saying the same thing twice, I will ask, what is the draw of western RPG's? I can't think of any of them I want to spend any more time on than I already have.

Actually your post made me post in the confessions thread :P

Like Gamemaster said, the first one isn't really worth it. However, the second game is excellent and unlike any of its console relatives, if those are the games you've played. It's a top down RPG-ish series.

Its all preference, I suppose. I liked Morrowind, Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and New Vegas, so on, so forth.

I also liked Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Legends of Dragoon, Final Fantasy 9,10 and 12, Dragon Quest 8-9, The Fire Emblem series, Pokemon, so on, so forth.

The thing is, they're both very different experiences.

Western games are often far more involved with a lot of choice to the player, even if it follows one given path, the choices you make reflect the ending.

A lot of Japanese rpgs typically are like books, and that's not a bad thing, but its not what people are looking for as often anymore. They're often very good at conveying a story, though the middle has to hold or it will be forgotten. In a Japanese RPG, you are not experiencing the choices that you can make, you're experiencing the choices the author has made. It leads to a less involved experience, which can be a lot more relaxing.

I see the merit in both and can safely say they're both great, but I understand why people would hold a preference in that regard.

I personally also have a hard time having fun with most JRPGs. There are some exceptions, of course, like Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts (although that is more actionRPG), and the Mario RPG games. I just didn't like games like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy, but their defense, I didn't get very far into them.

This is going to sound weird.

I don't like Guitar Hero. Like any of them. They are so bland and boring when it comes to songs. It seems like they only deal with hard rock and metal and only old rock and metal.

However, I do like Rock Band. I don't know why I like one over the other, but I think it has to do with music. That and the controllers that come with the games (the GH controller feels like plastic to much, almost like I'm going to brake the thing).

My personal one has to be Odin Sphere for the PS2. Beautiful game with awesome art and a completely unique play style. Also I am a huge RPG fan and a hopeless Square Enix Fanboy. For some reason though despite the fact that the game was a complete masterpiece I just couldn't seem to sit down and play it for any length of time.
