New Xbox Reveal - May 21st!

PORQUE NO LE DOS ?

I get that they're probably waiting for E3, but why why why would you spread your reveal over two events ? One, huge-ass event of behemothian proportions showing games and features at once to make people real excited about the console.

Then people would be itching for E3 and more info on all the amazing things they just saw.

And that tasteful flap through which you shove in your VHS tapes. They totally should've done that.

Fine, but you know what would have helped? A freaking live tech demo running on the system.

You mean like a tub full of ducks?

"Look at it, it's massive! You could kill a man with that."
I lost my shit from there on.

These videos are the only reason I'm wating for new consoles anymore.

I await E3 for judgement though the XBox One reveal seemed shockingly poor.

Well this pretty much seals it for me -- why restrict innovative indie game developers ?

I don't plan on getting the new Xbox, but I think it looks pretty cool. I don't want to judge it until I fully know what it will have.

Pfft, like Indie Developers have ever made anything worthwhile, all they've got are the backing of that hopeless Steam-whatsit and pretty much everything worthwhile on XBLA and the only thing that kept that prime feature of the previous console alive and generated millions of dollars in sales to leech off of, as well as consistently creating fresh content millions of gamers love and can afford cheaply that Microsoft doesn't have to allocate resources to actually develop and instead can publish and generate revenue for themselves while simultaneously perpetuating an explosive market and remaining a viable competitor with other, vastly superior methods of digital distribution.. Who needs 'em when we have SPORTS!

Personally I'm not really interested in any of the new gen consoles but I really love trying to analyse the marketing and predict performance of sales.

I predict that the PS4 is going to be more prepared to cater for its core audience on launch this cycle after the PS3 disaster. Much moreso than the new XBox.

I also predict the XBox One will be significantly cheaper than the PS4 at release which is how it will actually be competitive for Christmas sales, but it is too early to say which would do better. I would be more confident in making a prediction like that when I know the hard numerical facts.

I believe the PS4 will do better in Europe, Asia and Oceania regardless unless the price difference is truly outrageous. Pretty much none of the TV functions would even work for anywhere outside the US.

Something else I am speculating is that the PS4 will have a subscription service for features such as exclusive member content/discounts (like PS+) and full utilization of the new services. There is just no way Sony could afford the server maintenance without some new way to pay for it. To me, the very fact that they did not mention that all of their services would be free when they announced them is evidence that they have plans to charge for them. That said, I think we will still enjoy free access to general online gaming and matchmaking which the XBox One will almost certainly not offer.
