Of Mice and Men is a fantastic book, as sad as it is. School reading doesn't always suck. People just go into it thinking "it's for school, so it must suck". Make that decision for yourself when you're done :) Also, check out banned books such as "Catcher in the Rye" which is one of my all time favorites.

The only book I read for school that I hate for real is "To Kill A Mockingbird." I know it's classic and I should really enjoy it but it's dull and I can't even get though the second chapter. The only reason I know what went on in the book was because my teacher summarized it after each chapter. The same thing happened when I tried to watch "Casablanca." They are both dull and I really can't get though ether one.

Ah man, I love To Kill A Mockingbird! [Fun fact: I was almost named Scout]. One we had to read that I couldn't stand was The Great Gatsby. We even watched the original movie in class and I hated that too.

The Great Gatsby is one of those books that I did not like but only because I had to read it. I can actually tell you more of what happened in that book than To Kill A Mockingbird. Most of what I know of the latter is from the movie (which is a great movie) and I can't tell you what they changed. I think the books are dull due to the time period they were written in.

I disliked a lot of what I read in high school. Books that stood out for me though,were

White Fang
Animal Farm
The Outsiders
The Giver
Lord of the Flies

I love all of the above. Wasn't a fan of high school reading. I remember hating Great Gatsby though. Totally hated it. Also, I remember not liking Catch 22 and not understanding why my friends liked it.

Only book I honestly care much for Is Ender's Game.
I never really found reading too pleasant. I'm just one of those guys who loses his place mid-sentence and has to start over again because I forgot the context of it.

Same here. I know there are some amazing books out there, but they just don't keep my interest.

Don't you hate it when that happens? For me it becuse I daydream about the last thing I read. It's one of the ways I know I'm reading a good book. It's also one of the few reasons I don't read much any more.

Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm are books everyone should read. Also Brave New World and 1984.

I thought I was the only one that did that! Like, i'll be so into the book that I can't even pay attention to it fully because i've got all these images and scenarios running through my head.

And then suddenly you'll read something like "Now we need to make plans for Jonny's funeral" and you're like "WAIT WHAT?" and you start going back a couple pages like "The hell just happened? I loved Jonny! D="

This isn't going to go over well once this book hits the US, but I think it's great that a kids' book is finally out there to teach them about same sex relationships. It actually seems like a really cute story! If I understand it right, it's about a king who is upset that his daughter doesn't like any of the princes he's introduced her to, so he gets a fairy to help him. Guess who his daughter falls for!
