I found Tangled free to watch online so I thought I'd give it a shot. I was expecting complete and total garbage like Frozen, so I was shocked when I actually loved the movie. As usual, Disney failed at creating good songs as they've been doing lately, but the comedy was excellent considering it's a kids' film. I laughed out loud during the tavern scene.

It was also a switch to see a three dimensional villain. The thing is, it really wasn't her fault she ended up in that role. She wasn't hurting anyone using that flower for eternal youth and she never intended to kidnap Rapunzel. When your option is to either die or swipe a baby I can understand her choice. Doesn't change she was a manipulative bitch, of course.

I'm in agreement. That movie was way better than I expected it to be when I first saw it. I thought it would be a sappy love story/fairy tale with a princess waiting for her prince to arrive. Not only does she not get a prince, but she didn't need him to escape but really as a means of navigating the world while she deals with her own shit of new found independence and all that jazz. Plus frying pans as weapons is a thing apparently.

Also I want Pascal, that chameleon. He is awesome.

I remember, we went to see Tangled in the theaters, a group of 4, and when it got to the boat scene, the whole movie theater was evacuated because the popcorn machine in the lobby caught on fire.

I'll let her sum it up for me....although the music at the end is a tad out of place.

Just came back from seeing Mr.Peabody and sherman. I enjoyed it. Even though I only have a few memories about the original shorts. It surprised me in a few ways. I'm just thankful its an animated film over a live-action film.

I finally got to see Frozen to see if it is as good as so many say it is and it actually is. I was really surprised that I'd like it as much as I did.

Especially for Disney Also saw that Amazon had the Green Lantern Animated Series on DVD/Bluray so gonna be watching that too. I know it isn't technically a movie, but I think once it is released out on disc format it doesn't matter at that point. Could think of it as an episodic film that takes a really long ass time to watch it.

And also watching now the making of doc off Hunger Games: Catching Fire Bluray which is over 2 hrs long which is awesome. I like watching a making of documentary film that takes a good while to explain a lot of things of why they did what in a film and the cast and crew's opinions and such.

I HATED it. I feel like I saw a different movie than everyone else because they keep raving about it. This is what I saw:

The first half hour is nothing but pointless singing. Also, it continues a frequent Disney theme that nothing cool can happen unless one or both of your parents are dead. Why did Anna need to get her memory wiped? I think getting ice magic to the head is a good enough lesson that they need to be careful because of Elsa's powers.

That zap must have also made Anna mentally challenged because there is no difference between her kid and adult self. She's basically the human form of Pinkie Pie with how she acts except much less intelligent and even more annoying.

Are freaking kidding me? That's not funny.

What the hell is the big deal about the song Let it Go? It sounded exactly like every other song in the movie. Bland and boring.

Despite the fact the "prince charming" ended up being a dick Disney still continues to show that a woman can't do anything without a man's help. Even the freaking reindeer was male. She's still a helpless damsel in distress. Who cares if it went a little teeny bit against what we usually see in Disney films? The end result is the same and Anna still got her a man who she showed zero chemistry with. He showed more interest in banging his reindeer.

I didn't get emotional at all when Anna got frozen. It was the only point where the bitch was tolerable. Credits should have rolled right there. Nowhere near as sad as when Eugene gets stabbed and says "You were my new dream." as he dies.

True love is the solution to controlling Elsa's powers? So you're telling me she didn't love her parents or Anna before? What?

It was like a bad rehash of Tangled in certain parts. Anna and Rapunzel both are "trapped" in a sense. Both have something funky with their hair. Both can be clumsy. A reindeer and a horse sidekick are pretty similar.

I also felt like Disney took a massive step backwards in animating characters. None of the ones in Frozen had such detailed and range of expression as the ones in Tangled did. They also keep using the exact same character design for women over and over again, just changing the eye color and hair. Disney 3D animation is just UGLY.

So yeah... Let's just say Frozen makes me a little upset.

Actually I agree with your points. I'm just one of those people that is really easy to please and amuse. I'm probably one of those people Disney and other animation studios making movies see and go "Well there is an easy mark." I'm like a magpie with pretty colors instead of shiny things. Except with Shrek, that after awhile got really old really quickly cause nothing really changed much from film to film. Either that or Eddie Murphy as Donkey just annoys the crap out of me.

I think the only time they (ie. Disney) did it right with the whole princess not needing a man to help her was Brave. There she went up against her dad, tradition of arranged marriages, and took on a psycho bear (granted her mom ended up killing it, but a good example of female characters taking care of their shit).

So, I did some reading about 'The Snow Queen' that Frozen was based on. It was a story about a girl who defeated an army of snowflakes controlled by the snow queen to rescue a boy she loves. His heart was also frozen, but she melts his heart with a kiss.

For some reason, I wish that was the story Frozen was like. Don't need no strong man to help there, it was the man that needed rescued.That's too bold for Disney though.
