Just beat Advance Wars 2 today, after about 20 tries. Finally got him down by doing the most retarded but successful plan ever.

About 17 days in, I was fucked. He had units everwhere and I couldn't push to destroy this death ray. My plan was to distract the majority of his units with my left CO, then with my middle CO. I would fight the ones going through the middle to get his CO power (Enemy units take 1 (2 if super) damage, and lose half their fuel) and with my right units, I would use the fact that CO is the strongest to break through the pipes to the death ray.

The main bad guy had a power that he could use where he literally strikes your units down to 2 health with a meteor, and if he did that to my main battle tanks on the right I'd be fucked, I also have to make sure that I do not lose all of my units from one of the three armies I control or I lose.

So what I did was waste as much money as possible on Transport Helicopters every turn to disrupt movement and stop them from defeating the other armies. He basically sent damn near all his resources to take down this transport heli's, even using his meteor strike on them. All I did after that was move the strongest army on the right towards the death ray and beat him with 5 days to spare.

Took me long enough, but damn. Good Game.
I might crack and buy the new Call of Duty, I'm not too sure yet. It looks like a lot of fun and there is a relatively large amount of originality. I think I'm gonna do it.

And then play some more Rebirth.

Good god, the Rebirth!
Finally reached the 11th level of Awesomeness in Rayman Legends.

.....

Now I have no reason to play anymore.
So, Draenor is starting up. Who's blasting their hype thrusters to the force of a thousand sunwalkers?

I would be, but I'm busy and can't afford it atm.
A friend found me driving a truck in a crappy Dead Island video from two years ago, huh.
So, I played the first Halo for five hours straight from start to finish for consistency in the achievements, and wow I can't believe how Halo 1 has aged.

While the gameplay is fine, the problem lies in the fact that it's the first Halo game. It's done things other games haven't, and if they have they obviously didn't take note or tried to improve but just couldn't do it right.

Pretty much all vehicles don't feel right, they're either way to difficult to turn, hit objects too much or just aren't very useful in some situations, the levels are way to long with checkpoints coming only if you have killed all the enemies, and since I was rushing this meant that getting a checkpoint at say Point 2 and dying at Point 5 would revert me back to Point 2 and I'd have to do that again, and again until I got it right or a check point came between there, and it's great to run round a corner only to see a flood infection form kill you with a rocket launcher in a tight space since they don't care about living.

Also, the game has a lot of bugs. I remember on Two Betrayals I flew a Banshee into a tunnel and got out when I had to open a door, only to find MC plunge to his death since the game still think I'm flying above the death barrier. So no biggie right? Revert the checkpoint? Nope, checkpointed there since it's a plot point AND no enemies have spawned, so I constantly died there for about 2 minutes before I restarted that 20 minute or so level to rush through it again.

I mean I love Halo, I know it was a rushed game, and I know it was Bungie's first try but damn. I've completed this game on Legendary Solo, but this run was fucking horrible and I hated it pretty much 60% in.

I'm gonna play Halo 2 tomorrow since I have a test tomorrow and I have to revise for it, and I didn't want to go through that ordeal of Halo 1 and not feel up to Halo 2.
^The reson that I never picked up another Halo past 1. It's so bad. It's the first time a bunch of things were done and they were copied over and over, being done better each time. I'm trying to get though the first one before I play Halo 2 (it's how I play games, I hate playing games out of order in fear I'm missing something), but I hate the game so much and I do not want to play it at all.

Also the animations on everyone looks just plan bad. I think the only reason that the earlier were remade was to make them all look better.

Halo 1 was good for its time, but going through it now I can see a lot of the flaws it had.

343 fucked up a lot of things, but really they couldn't do much beyond a few fixes here and there since they wanted to keep the experience the same.

The characters and animations are very bad since Bungie had a lot of trouble doing them, they talk about it in the developer commentary. Most of the scenes were either the chief being controlled and recorded with a camera, or actually making the scene with custom animations being played ever other second to put it all together into one. They weren't improved by 343 for whatever reason, I'm probably being too harsh on them so I'll assume that they tried to do something but couldn't do that much to improve upon it.

Halo 2 and 3 are much better though, but if you find yourself hating 2 or 3, just drop the series (4, 5, ODST, Reach, Wars) You're not going to like the rest of it.
The new Mario Kart 8 DLC was released today and it's so good! I like every course except for Warios Gold Mine which isn't a surprise because I disliked it in Mario Kart Wii also. The best course is definitely the Mute City course with its constant speed boosts and spectacular music, also the Blue Falcon is the best vehicle IMO. Surprisingly my favorite character is Tanooki Mario, I thought I was going to hate him, but he's actually a really good character. Overall Nintendo did a fantastic job with the first DLC pack, lets hope they bring more awesome stuff in the second pack.

My problum is not that I think that it's going to be bad. It's just that everyone has hyped Halo 1 has being the best thing ever when it's not, while Halo 2 is meant to be better while it's devlopment did not start until a little under a year before it was relesed. I'm afraid that it's going to be a buggyer version of a better Halo game.

However, from what little I have played of 3 and Reach, I do have hopes that I will like 2.

I see, well Halo 1 has a lot of hype to live up to. A lot of people like it since it was different to the other games and some people consider it better just because of it having health and not being cancerous as modern FPS's are.

I hope you have fun with two, remember to switch between Classic and Remastered to see the differences. But leave the cutscenes the same, they're pretty great.

I have a few gripes with Halo 2 remastered, while a lot of the weapons look nice they sometimes clip through and you can see through the weapon if you look all the way down and crouch, not a huge problem but it didn't happen in the original so I don't know why they made it occur in this version.

The music is nice, but hard to hear sometimes since everything is so loud for some weird reason, and I can hardly hear the banter from the Australian and Mexican marines (who do not appear as much as they do in later games, so cherish them while you can) also one remastered piece made absolutely no sense.

I won't spoil it, but in one section this music plays. (Except it's instrumental so the person saying "Follow" isn't there)

Sounds kickass right? Well listen to the remastered one.

Starts at 18:30

Now while it doesn't sound bad, it's a completely different song. Hell, it sounds like a song I'd hear in a sonic game albeit with less drums. It really doesn't fit the Halo game that much. I sort of get that they may have not been able to get the rights to redo it since the song was created by someone else and possibly couldn't remix it or redo it.

It really annoyed me to hear that song when the original was so much better, I heard they also replaced Blow me Away which was pretty incredible so the redone one better be good.
I must say, playing Mass Effect, that I feel sorry for the Thresher Maws. They just chill around on their planets minding their own business. Then you just fanny out of nowhere and roll around, disturbing their peace and quiet.
My other hypothesis is that they're traffic wardens worried about upholding traffic regulations.

Matthewmatosis did his Super Mario Sunshine video, as a part of his 3D Mario series analysis. It's about half an hour long, so prepare for that beforehand.
Woohoo!
Today is Shigeru Miyamotos birthday!

And yet, no Miyamoto birthday Nintendo Direct.
