It's become the main selling point of a game. Seriously what happened to a game with a good story or unique gameplay. With games like CoD and Battlefield eventually video games will no longer be a true piece of art...

What about all of the dozens of indie art games, like Dinner Date, or Facade?

Unfortunately people don't realize these games and because of that they don't get much popularity. I appreciate Sony showing their support for these indie games because indie games are what games (in my opinion) should be like. I wish when I went on Youtube people would be playing more indie games but they are filled with CoD, GTA V, Battlefield, etc. People should be aware of games on kickstarter instead of games like Watch_Dogs who are trying to give you half a game for full price then buy all of the DLC for another price.
I decided to bust out the Super Nintendo today and play some Super Mario Wold. Chocolate Island is just cruel. The Chocolate Island Ghost House and Chocolate Island 3 are just sadistic. Those two levels are not designed well.
I hate having to coax Boos all the way to the secret exit. I hate having to use a cape to reach the secret exit in CI3. I don't mind levels with really tight, difficult game play, but gimmick levels are just rage-inducing.

Those die hard first person shooter gamers need to realize that its not just the graphics that make the game. But the gameplay, characters, and music make the game as well. Youtube gamers need to be aware of creative and imaginative games like Shantae half genie hero and anything from Double Fine.

If a game is hyped and advertised that it's going to look good, it should look good.
It's annoying to think they just made it look shit on the 7th gen consoles, just to release it on them. Hell, people even say it looks horrible on PS4/Xbox One.
I don't care much for graphics, I prefer Resolution to anything else, but it's just annoying for them to make it look really good, then just down grade it in general on all consoles, and act like nothing happened, or we're entitled and should care for gameplay or story or something else.
Looks horrible? I mean, I get the whole false marketing deal and all but horrible? Having grown up in the 90s with NES and PS1 games I have a hard time saying something looks horrible, especially if it looks even nearly as good as this "shitty" version of Watch Dogs. Some people need to get their heads out of their asses and focus on the point instead of making retarded remarks like that.
That's been the standard practice for years now, and I frankly can't blame them seeing as its the only way to reach the widest audience with one game. This one cutscene that you see once might look best on console but the actual game looks better on PC, and its all gonna get overhauled by the end of the month regardless.
Got Deadly Premonition recently.
I dig it so far, but man is it badly optimized; Frame rate drops like crazy and keeps at a frequent 15-20 FPS most the time, the car controls make turning around feel like that Austin Powers gag (turning in general is way too wide), and the map won't zoom out, making navigation through the town confusing and easy to get lost in.
expect some trivia soon, though.
Just bought Serious Sam 3 off the PSN cause it was on sale. I love this series simply because it is mindless 80's action and monster killing. It is DOOM combined with Duke Nukem but funnier. My venting topic is a bit this game has where I have to run through a desert area where there are baddies called Kamikazes which are headless guys with bombs on their hands and they scream while running at you (don't ask me how headless guys can scream but they do). My issue with this isn't them directly, more like at the giant Dune like Sand Worm that prowls the field (which I didn't know about). And in the midsts of running and gunning the screaming headless suicide bombers I now have to get to more solid ground and off the sandy area because otherwise I get eaten Tremors style.
Basically the only strategy that worked was to get to run the gauntlet of baddies (there are others but the bomber guys are the worst) to solid ground where there are even more annoying monsters to shoot at and you only have so many bullets. Only other monster I hate more than Kamikazes are what is called the Kleer which are skeleton creatures that run and leap at you all over the place, throw ball chains at you, and take a lot of damage from regular guns and only explosive weapons or up close with a double barrel shotgun can instant kill them but they spawn a lot of them so a lot of damage can be taken before killing all of them. That way you can concentrate on the bigger baddies on the field.

But that's a comparison. You're comparing time frames, technology, expectations and the standards set in the 90's to the standards in the year 2014. It looks amazing by
comparison of something clearer inferior but to judge a game today based on it's own merits set by this current technology is why it's fair to criticize a game. if we gave a game a free pass on low quality entertainment of 2014 because "by comparison the 80's/90s looked bad as opposed to this" then we would end up with a very shitty industry.
The problem with Watch_Dogs isn't that's about graphics, is about promises, quality and marketing.
This video is proper lulz though:
Despite how funny the video is, I still plan on playing it to give it a fair opinion (which is what Retrolinkx did).
Exposing companies and very shitty practices is damaging to industry.
(see Aliens: Colonial Marines). I knew that Watch_Dogs wasn't even going to come close to living up to expectations because I don't trust Ubisoft. I waited a week to see the results and they clearly show. That being said, Watch_Dogs looks far from shit.
Remember it's not about graphics, but the promises that developers/publishers tell us, and then failing to deliver. It's just that in the case of Watch_Dogs, one of it's major flaws is the graphics(graphics). Another example being Skyward Sword. Nintendo promised us 1-1 controls and they were so far from that. So much so that an already bad game was made even worse by unresponsive controls(controls).

I wasn't comparing it to games from the 90s. I meant that over the years I've learned to appreciate even the less awesome graphics of today. I have absolutely no complaints about the graphical qualities of Watch Dogs.
I would also like to point out that the only thing I was arguing here was the part where someone had supposedly said it looks like shit. I even said, in the post you quoted, that I get the whole false advertisement thing. This is why I said people need to focus on the point.
I decided to check out my backloggery to see what game I should try to finsh. Checking out my SNES games, I notice all but The Lost Levels were completed on the All Stars Pack, and I wondered why. Four-Five hours later, I have A head ache, I feel like breaking some thing, and I now hate the Super Mario Theme. I'm only on world 6-1, and I plan to play every level, including worlds A, B, and C. I so glad that this game has a save feature, because I do not have the patience to beat it in one sitting. How is this considered a better sequal that Mario USA?
Nether has got to be the worst game in my Steam library and I have Ricochet in there.
I tried a Minecraft demo last night. As much as I wanted to enjoy this game, I just cannot get into the hype. But, for $20 on the 360, I may eventually get it anyway.
