A coup d'etat in all its glory. Not surpised. Well yeah a little. The president is not that great since he wants to transform Turkey in a more conservative country, more religious, etc.

Simply put, Erdogan wants to push more towards radicalism, but the army supports Ataturk's origins, vision for a secular Turkey. Cue coup.
As I've said in the past, loose organization. All kinds of people, not all who represent their cause.
