Going back to that targeting one player thing, I think it needs to be revamped. I got booted once already for the same thing and all I was doing was targeting the player with the highest precentage, which only makes sense to do. It isn't my fault that it happened to be the same player each time. I didn't even win the match doing that anyways because I'm not all that good just yet myself. It's kind of BS that that is how this is working.

Out of curiosity, are you playing on For Fun or For Glory?
So, from what people are saying, people here seem to be thinking Super Smash Bros 4 isn't that good... It got lots of hype, but when it came out it looked like a cheesy pancake.

I think it's a good game, but to me the biggest it's missing is the local play that made the other games so fun to play. I can't invite 3 of my friends over and play this unless they have also have a 3DS, so the game feels lonelier, if you get what I mean. If there was something similar to the Subspace Emissary than I don't think it would be as much of an issue. In terms of gameplay and content, I think it's just fine.

The WiiU version is definitely going to the definitive version to play.

That is not the case, the game as a whole is fantastic, but there are just some things that make it feel stupid like the aformentioned player targeting rule. So no we're not saying it's a bad game, there are just a few little stupid things that they could have easily fixed or just not put into the game. So if you were thinking of not buying it you still definitely should, but I would recommend waiting for the Wii U version.
10/10 would still recommend. Best handheld smash game ever.

I'm in the that group. There's multiple reasons why.
1. I honestly don't see Nintendo/HAL Labs going back to being fun about competition. Fair enough Nintendo go their shit together and didn't screw everyone over a EVO, but also hosting their own tournament. But in terms of mechanics, there's so much questionnable BS in the new Smash(and other games) that I can't find myself liking. Smash Bros 4 in particular has vectoring and rage. Not really into the anti-tech Nintendo are trying to do. That being said, Omega stage and For Glory are easily the best new additions.

2. Since I first saw it, it just seems like Brawl.5. After playing it both for fun and competitively, it pretty much is that. The characters models are clearly reused from Brawl, the entire roster is Brawl with only a few new additions and the modes themselves feeling lacking. It doesn't have the hype or interest that even Brawl had.

3.  It's on the 3DS so that version of the game will be completely irrelevant by the time the Wii U comes out. In all honesty, is anyone going to be willing to play Smash Bros on 3DS?
(On the topic of 3) To make matter worse, the 3DS version limited the Wii U version.

I don't hate it(not by a long shot), but man I'm really not missing out on anything by not playing it. I'll buy it day 1 on the Wii U but I might just be spoiled by Project M.

(Also, broken stuff is broken).

Isn't it the only Smash game ever?

Yes. That is my point. Even if you have both, there are justifications for both, being that they're separate platforms.
Well then, here's my list of complaints for 3DS.
There's no Subspace Emissary.
The controls...
With 4 players on the screen, it can get a bit funky at times.
Online multiplayer could have done with more options and structure.
The solo experience is very limited, even for Smash Bros expectations.
To play with 4 players on Wii U, all you need is 1 copy of the game and 4 controllers. No problem. For the 3DS, you need 4 copies of the game along with 4 3DS'. This? Problem.

Most of these are major, and this is mainly why I haven't bought a copy for myself. Hopefully the Wii U is a bigger sucess.

I've messed with both. I tend to win more in for fun mode though, probably because people are using it as a training tool, same as me.
Well, all this Smash talk has convinced me to buy it. I'm letting my 3DS charge for now (it's very finnicky and the cord has to be juuuuust right to get a charge, so I can't play and charge at the same time), but I'll be playing in a little bit. I'll be trying Mario first for sure, my old standard.

Welp, initial thoughts on characters I tried.
I really like Bowser's new play style and looks. Back air is phenomenal, new forward smash is killer too.
Mario is still Mario but not nerfed Brawl Mario, so I'm cool with that.
Rosalina is a frikkin' TANK. I was not expecting that. I really enjoyed my match with her even if her moveset is wonky. I can get used to it. But I seriously did not expect her to be that heavy. She may as well not even have aerials though.
Mega Man was ok on the ground, D air is amazing.
It will take time for me to learn Little Mac, even if he does have cheap kills.
Continued Rosalina and Luma talk. I think I'll be maining her. Other characters edge guard and put themselves in harm's way in the process. You can do that extremely effectively with Luma only with b and side b and prevent people from getting back without ever putting yourself in danger. It's not as pretty or cool as attacking through the air or spikes, but it works nearly as well with no risk.
I think I'm maining Ness. I'm pretty good with him.
At the moment my KO stats are:

Captain Falcon: 511
Link: 124
Jigglypuff: 113
Ganondorf: 82
Little Mac: 77
Duck hunt: 66
Yoshi: 61
Mr. Game & Watch: 54 (I love this character!)
Shulk: 51
Wii Fit Trainer 47
...
I wasn't sure but I think I might main megaman. I love the ability to slide under an attack and hit a foe at the same time, only to combo into one of his many options once they are airborne.
