What a huge rip-off. I'm only buying the retail version because I know it's going to worth a shit ton in the future still sealed. Seriously, Nintendo need to lower the DLC to around £5/$5 at most!
Not at all, This deal was great. I was worried it would be 49.99 and was hoping for 29.99. Very excited to see 19.99. This isn't just your average DLC pack like the 9.99 it costs for KREIG in borderlands or the $14.99 it costs for four maps in CoD. This is literally the same size as the original game. (Hence the stand alone version) Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare wasn't even the same length and didn't it sell stand alone for like 40? Nintendo are saints with DLC, you shouldn't be so quick to attack them like that. The few new mario level packs for NSMB2 was like what 2 dollars? where as any PS360 game would charge lke a of 10-15 for that. Oh and there retro map pack was FREE.

There has been sonic exclusives for Nintendo before.. and they have been making sonic and mario at the Olympic games for awhile...and he was in Smashbros...why say this now? haha.

Nintendo are saints? This is a generic meh-at-best dlc character. Metal Gear Rising recently had 2 DLCs which let you play as Sam and Blade-wolf for $7 each. Nintendo are charging you $20 to play as Luigi on the same stages. The Kreig DLC is only $10. So why is Nintendo charging $20 to use a DLC character when other games don't. This is blatant obvious BS by Nintendo. The same company who charge £40 for download titles on the e-store or £50 for WiiU download titles. Small app games like Angry Birds/Balance/Nightsky are around £8 each.
I don't get how other game deveopers can charge less money to use new characters yet Nintendo charge $20 and be called saints? Nintendo have always been terrible with pricing. All you gain from this add-on is 2 characters and a few new stages. Compared to Red Dead which is an entirely new campaign/expansion.
It's not the same stages Cody. You can't play the Luigi stages as Mario because Mario wouldn't be able to beat them. ALL THE STAGES are being reworked for Luigi.
They are probably are a fair few altered stages as some of them might be just minor enough to get away with it. Mario could go through the new stages but there are probably limits preventing him from doing so like a platform being higher than he could jump.
Besides games from Nintendo (along with EA FIFA and Activision's Call of Duty, both £45) are the most expensive retail games you can get in England. I mean £50 for a Wii U game, that's $75.85 in American money retail price. You could at the very most find the game £10 cheaper (I was very lucky to get NSMBU from Morrisons at £35 when it came out) but when compared to 360 and PS3 games, it seems like daylight robbery by comparison where £30 seems to be the maximum and some often get even less. Well £40 on some bigger titles [the ones that were very hyped up like Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite or like GT6 and GTA 5 will be] and even then they get reduced in a couple of weeks. If we are talking about DLC, fair enough but it really depends on the publisher.
I'll predict about £30 for Super Luigi Bros. U in the UK and that's if you can find it in the first place. After all you are dealing with a country with the No 1. selling game on the Wii U is less than a 1000 units and some games you are lucky to even see. As an example, I heard some games (Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Amazing Spiderman, 007 Legends) only had around 12 copies in total or something sillily low like that. Also Scribblenauts Unlimited was recalled so that probably will end up being a collectors item.
Also Nintendo publishing the next 3 Sonic games seems to be an end of an era for Sega who published (and developed) the blue hedgehog from the beginning with only Infogrames and THQ filling in on the Nintendo platforms in the early 2000s for distribution purposes. Yes, I know Nintendo published the Mario & Sonic series in Japan and Sega published a Pokemon game on the Pico but it seems so wrong. Probably Sega will hopefully having more digital Sonic games on other platforms [wouldn't be surprised if there are more Sonic 4 like games or Taxman ports happen] and probably just means that they are exclusives like Sonic Colours was due to how they worded it otherwise if somehow Sonic does become an Nintendo exclusive series then the Sega I knew has gone and Castle of Illusion will be their last proper platforming game that is published and developed by them [ironically Castle of Illusion came before Sonic 1]. Well technically Sega went when the Dreamcast went but Sega now mainly does strategy games on Steam/phones and vocaloid stuff. It's not to say it is a bad thing since they are popular and good [miles better than most of 2004-2008 Sega in terms of output] but the soul has gone. The arcade soul that made them famous gone, the ambition on rising the bar gone. Still if the games end up good, it doesn't matter.
As well as Yakuza 1&2 HD going to the Wii U would also annoy Sony as well since they invested in that series and Bayonetta going there too must mean something, possible that Sega could end up being a second party to Nintendo while still owned by Sega Sammy if these Sonic games sell really well. After all Platinum Games have also gone to Nintendo. Then again Sega could have just gone to the Wii U due to the extra cost of making games on the PS4/next Xbox and wanted a cheaper option, the more logical option.
"a few new stages. Compared to Red Dead which is an entirely new campaign/expansion. "
No need to argue, your simply misunderstanding what this DLC is. It's not a few new stages. It's all new stages, enough to match the exact length of the previous game. Meaning like I said before (as you ignored) It's longer then red-deads campaign/expansion Not a Luigi character mod. You cannot play any old stages with this stand alone. And paying 7 dollars for a character is the bullshit im talking about.
Edit: Example: This Mario DLC pack is longer then All previous 2d New Super Mario Bros games.

Yeah, but they still released Sonic on other consoles occasionally, like Sonic Colors, Sonic Unleashed, and the All-Star Racing games. Nintendo would never let Mario & Sonic games be released on their competitor's systems and Sega wanted Sonic in Smash Bros. since Melee's development. Now that Sonic is stuck with Nintendo for good, it makes me wonder of the non-Nintendo owners that still liked Sonic. Would they accept it or blow it out of proportion like they did with Bayonetta 2?
I see, sorry I didn't see that Sega was first party now.

He's not. It was only a deal that has the next 3 sonic games exclusive to Nintendo.
Oh god I'm so sorry for what I have done, Seppuku it is.

Damn it man. Pick your sorry corpse ass up so we don't have to clean it up. If you're gonna seppuku, you do it in the furnace room like everyone else!
Wow, I'm super pumped about that list of confirmed characters Arjahn. Amazing find. When I heard people talking about this I assumed it wasn't confirmed by Nintendo.
