Oh for fuck sake... You know, I was jokingly saying the other day that they should have trademarked "Saga" because God only knows how many games with that name in the title there are.

Then this happens: http://www.screwattack.com/news/king-dec...anner-saga

I WAS JUST JOKING!

What's next, are they gonna trademark the word crush and sue Armor Games for crush the castle?

Fuck, i may have given them ideas.
They are really trying their everything to sue... well, everything.

What next, they make a crappy game whose name is composed of completely random words and try to trademark every single one of the words seperately?

Also this made me laugh so hard: "we already have a series of games where 'Saga' is key to the brand which our players associate with a King game"

Are you serious? Have you ever heard of a game series that is actually called SaGa that has existed way before your company was even established? Furthermore, are they even aware that it is a common word.

The only thing I associate with a King game is stupid lawsuits and retardedness.
They bribed the judge with the ability to skip all levels in Candy Crush.
Stupid question: What does trademarked mean? And what happens to words that are trademarked?

Sorry, im clueless.

To trademark something basically means you own a certain word or phrase, and other companies within your industry. So, Windows is trademarked. I can't create a new computer company named Windows or use their logo, or I'll get sued by Windows for a lot of money.

So, King wants to trademark "Candy" and "Saga" so no other video game company can use their phrases, despite there being game series that have been around much longer use those phrases. That could affect such famous series as SaGa, that has been around since the late 80s and has well over 10 games released with in it.

I doubt it will go through, but it's pretty crazy to even try. I hope King studios loses this, goes bankrupt, and Candy Crush dies forever.

Is it only video game titles with candy or saga in it that will have problems?

I mean, candy is bad enough. Saga is in a lot of video game names.

While the "saga" thing is still ongoing, they actually did manage to trademark the word "candy". They have already succesfully gotten a free mobile game called All Candy Casino Slots out of the picture even if it had absolutely nothing to do with their stupid game.

Apparently, Youtube pulls copyright on games people legally own the copyright to as well.

No surprise there

Not even the first time. The last time this happened it was with No More Room in Hell and even after the devs sent google all their official papers on how they really own the IP and it really is their own channel, they still didn't believe them.
About the King thing. I like the service they provide, but their administration is on par with Zynga. It's a scheme. Once you invest real money, you're boned. I invested five bucks once to get rid of ads, but it changed everything so that you HAVE to spend money to play games with other people. So yeah, this isn't really that much of a surprise to me.
Rockstar games weekend on Steam! Everything on Steam from Rockstar from -67% on almost everything to a whopping -82% of the Max Payne Complete pack, which includes all three games and the Rockstar Pass for 3!

This was a good thing for me since my Episodes from Liberty City disc for PS3 stopped working before I could finish Ballad of Gay Tony so now I can get the whole thing for 5€.
I would absolutely recommend getting the Max Payne games. All 3 for only $10 is a steal.
According to the commercials seen on my TV, King has apparently given up on their crusade to trademark every word in the world and continues to develop more clone games of their clone game.

Considering none of their games have anything to do with each other (apart from the clone thing) and none of them have any actual story, the word "Saga" is pretty misleading. And they had the nerve to try and trademark that.
