Reminds me, is there any news of the Sailor Moon reboot?

Just that Viz has licensed it. There was at one time a release date on a Japanese site, but they took it down. They're being ridiculously hush-hush about it; the most news we've gotten is the name and some artwork of the new character designs (they just have longer legs; that's about the only change they've shown).
Oh wow, I'm glad I remembered to look into it! July 5, 2014 is now supposed to be the set release date for Sailor Moon Crystal! That's soon, so I really wish they'd show some footage of the anime! I'm so curious!

There's 26 episodes so far, but I really hope that there's going to be more. No way can they cram everything into only that few.
So Sailor Moon Crystal is the name of the new show. I was wondering what the show you mentioned at the end of your post on the previous page was :D

Thanks for the info, too! My summer vacation starts in July, so now I'll have something more to look forward to in that month. Hopefully there'll be fan subs soon after premiere. Good to know that I'll have something to watch regularly while I wait for season 5 of Friendship is Magic. Hey, this could actually be the first anime in years I'd watch whenever a new episode comes out :D
On the topic of HxH 2011, holy shit was I really annoyed with some of the episodes I watched a few days ago on journey to catch up to the series. They were the ones that were in slow motion for a very long time and where 10 seconds had passed in two episodes. It was obnoxiousness and so was the narrating throughout the whole thing. Things are better now though and seeing Gon become incredibly angry was both horrifying and fantastic at the same time. If you couldn't tell, I'm referring to the Chimera Ant Arc.

Been also watching the HxH OVA that came out before the 2011 version. Ehh, after watching the 2011 version, I'm not too big on it. You still have the good characters and for the most part the same plot points, but it just lacks charm and is really dull. It also feels like they're trying to be a bit too realistic, which doesn't really work with the series since it's a Shonen Jump title with some crazy fighting and powers.

Yes, sorry! I shouldn't have assumed that everyone knew the new anime's name.

Are you able to get Hulu Plus in Finland? Viz has a deal with them where they're showing the uncut subs of the original anime and will be doing the same with Crystal.

Sadly, no. I tried it just now to be sure and it said the contents can only be viewed within United States. Seems like it's fansubs for me.

A guy I follow on YT posted a rant video about the new dub. Thought I'd post for funsies. Also because it's relevant.

On a side note, I really don't care what the voice track is like. I watched it dubbed in Swedish. That's my Sailor Moon.

Oooph. The nostalgia is strong with this one. I can understand him preferring his childhood version, but he's so wrong that the new anime sticking to the manga would be a bad thing. He also probably doesn't understand why it's important for this to happen because he's a man.

The Sailor Moon manga was a feminist girl power story. The anime threw that all away and turned the Sailor Soldiers into cats in heat and made you wonder why they're friends in the first place. Rei is an absolute sweetheart in manga while she's a PMSing hell beast in the anime.

She's bad enough in the Japanese version, but Rini is a walking contraceptive promotion in the dub. She's a horrible brat that basically become the Scrappy Doo of the series.

Despite the fact the entire manga story could've easily been told in those 200 episodes they tossed away a lot of important details to the plot. It's been forever, but I'm very certain Queen Beryl's back story of being corrupted by the Dark Kingdom wasn't explained at all.

Mamoru and Usagi were given a creepy age difference. She's 14 and he's 18 when they get together in the anime, basically making him a pedophile. Mamoru is also an emotionally abusive jerk who seems ashamed that Usagi is his girlfriend and even tells her she's getting fat in one episode, despite the fact she looks like she weighs 70 pounds max.

I'm sorry to get ranty myself, but you just notice these things when you're older. I was shocked when I read the manga and watched the anime again when I was an adult.

I'm also big on nostalgia, so the anime does hold a special place, and it's certainly not all bad. I like that the villains aren't just there for 30 seconds before getting obliterated like they are in the manga. I'm not kidding; some just introduce themselves and then are instantly killed.

I only wish I could find good examples on youtube of just how bad the English dub was. My favorite was when a letter with Japanese characters is shown and gets called "funny symbols".
Anyone looking forward to the second season of Space Dandy?

Ahhh! I've still gotta watch the first season! I'm so behind on anime! I really have to watch this and Kill la Kill!

I'm not always on his side of the argument but for some reason I still enjoy watching his videos.

I really don't mind the new show following the manga more closely myself, since I've never actually read any of it. Since, as you say, the old anime managed to leave so many things out or change them I'm interested in seeing an "updated" version on the story. Updated in my point of view, not reading the manga and all. Let's just hope they still go for longer fight scenes :D

What I'm trying to say is that for people who haven't read it, the new show is going to be a whole new experience and thus a good thing. You know, redoing anime shows to follow their manga counterparts more closely, or just doing them from the beginning altogether, seems to be the big trend nowadays.
I'll have a week or two off from today.

Tell me a good anime to watch during these weeks.

If you're wondering, I like a lot of Comedic/Action/Science Fiction ones with a decent plot, To Aru Majutsu no Index/Kagaku no Railgun and Steins;Gate are good examples of this.

I've also seen, and liked. Darker than Black, Code Geass, Death Note, Angel Beats, TTGL and probably some more I can't remember.

Hare+Guu, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, and Is This a Zombie? come to mind first.

Black Rock Shooter was a really good action anime. I liked the OVA better since it focused on the two girls' friendship, but the series is pretty good as well.

You are in for a wild ride if you are planning to watch Space Dandy. In fact. Some of the people behind Cowboy Bebop are behind this show. So you're in for a treat. I remember reading that Kill La Kill is getting an english dub in the works. I dont remember on the top of my head who is doing the dub. But I'm thankful it ain't 4kids.

Black Lagoon is pretty sweet, though I would advice you NOT to watch the third season. It focuses on a side character and is terrible beyond belief.

Other good ones would be Outlaw Star, Full Metal Panic and Trigun. Grenadier is also good if you don't mind HotD level of boob and butt.
