So, after 12 episodes or so, I've accidentally been spoiled on what's happened, or at least worked it out through a plot synopsis, if you're going to watch Welcome to the NHK, don't read on.

Turned out Satou has accidentally joined a suicide group and doesn't know. He was visited by a girl he knew in high school the day before and thought she was depressed since she was having a hard time with life, and so he said he would follow her anywhere (thinking they were going to go on holiday or to the beach) turned out they went to a deserted island and were going to off themselves there.

He has absolutely no idea they're going to kill themselves and thinks they're all super depressed and is now trying to cheer them all up and make them do "holiday" things like swimming to have some fun.

It's actually pretty funny since they keep on saying "hmm, maybe this is a bad idea" and he's just saying "No, we came this far, we should keep on going with it, we need to start a new life!" and other things like that.
Well, I just finished Welcome to the N.H.K.

I'd recommend.

Best song.
There's a new Dragon Ball show coming? And it takes place in between Z and GT? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Anyone wanna bet that sooner or later, their just going to retcon GT into not being a thing so they can make more Dragon Ball without having to put it in cannon with GT?

I personally wouldn't want that because I liked GT (most of it at least) but I wouldn't put it past them.

How long was the gap between Z and GT again? I mean, how big of a gap in time are they able to span with this new show?

My point exactly. Even though I liked most of GT, most people didn't. That's the reason why we whent back to before GT (that and it ended the seires all together). We can get can only get so much out of 13 years (I think that's the gap) before the writers say "F#ck it" and retcon GT.

Dragonball would have started at the age 749.

DBZ would have started at the age 760.

DBZ would have ended at the point Goku goes off to train Uub, so the age 784.

GT starts at the year 789 and ends in 790.

Soooooo they have 5 years to deal with. That's not gonna make a terribly long series.
GT was 1 year, and is generally not considered to be canon. Heck, in Xenoverse, its only included as a fringe wormhole related anomaly. If I'm not mistaken, they actually pushing more towards a multi-verse style story. They technically already have alternate timelines with Bardock and Trunks, so it isn't all that odd.
I would honestly much rather have the continued SSJ line with SSJ4 instead of the whole God deal.
I don't necessarily agree, but I can respect your thoughts in regards.

The issues, as far as I'm aware lie more in GT than anything else. (I could be wrong. This is all from memory)

1. They got to a point where Goku and Vegeta were De Facto the strongest thing ever. At the time of the series end, there really wasn't any established avenue to route along.

2. Akira Toriyama would not agree to work on anything related to GT unless it be treated as some non-factor. He didn't write GT or like it.

3. There are a few contradictions here and there about saiyans, power, hair, just a bunch of stupid things.

4. People aged CRAZY FAST. Goten went from looking like a 7 year old to being a full grown adult. Hercule is balding, buu is dead, stuff like that.

5. Dragon Ball Online is considered canon, so Buu can't be dead. In fact, in a few years, there should suddenly be a lot of buus.
I'm going to foucs on a few of these.

So, if you are corect, GT is not Canon becuse Toriyama wasn't involved. I guess I can be fine with that.

It did seem like a very fast time for everyone to age that way. It looked like everyone exept for the saiyans had aged about 15 years.

I guess I could deal with this. I think that it is going to be partly stupid, but I can deal with it. MY one request is that we don't have too many leaps in lodgic. I hope the worse is expecting us to take Freaza seriously agien (dude is less powerful then two low level half-saiyan children. He should not have been the villain for the last movie).
I think his showing up was perfect. Frieza was a villain all about having all the power but none of the skill. He was stronger than everyone in the universe, so he never trained.

From a personal stand point, Frieza was a good villain to kick off the series (a villain stronger than , but he's the Raditz of Dragon Ball Villains. He was nice for a beginning villain, but the one line from Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return when Goku states that Goten and Trunks have a power level equil to (or greater then, I forget which) Frieza's made me doubt him as a real threat.

I do agree that Frieza as the movie's villain is a great idea, but (to take an idea from someone else) it should have been an alternate timeline Frieza. One that beat Goku and took over the Galaxy. One that is not afraid of the two monkeys he killed without braking a sweat. That way you could justify a new form for him, instead of just wishing him back to life. Hell, he could have had an imprefict Cell as a henchmen is you wanted to show how powerful this new Frieza got over our Frieza.

Ofcorese this is my opinion and it's based on not yet seeing the movie. I need to get around to that soon.
I have yet to see it either. I'm actually glad its the same Frieza though because that lets them justify the other main dimensions not being directly based on one another.
