I highly recommend that anyone who has ever enjoyed a fantasy style anime take the time to watch Tales of Zesteria the X. Beyond the fact that it has by far the best blend of CGI and hand drawn animation I think I've ever seen, even when it's not relying on CGI, it's movie quality good. It also has one of the best intro's I've never seen in anime, and the story is actually pretty good as well. I haven't finished it yet, and it does look like it will mostly focus on just the summary of the story from the game, but man, that animation is so good, it's worth watching just to enjoy that alone.

@Zpace Jockey, isn't that technically inaccurate as the longest voice acting career? Maybe as the same character sure, but even Steve Blum's first voice acting role was in 1992 so far as I know.

Dude,no offense, but the article clearly says "voice actor who voiced the same character in a video game for the longest period"
Has anyone ever watched Kaze no Matasaburou? It's a little short film about 22 minutes long but it's simple animation and story make it very charming. If you have the time to watch it, so for it, you might like it.
The 4th part of the the thematical and narrative analisys of the friendship between Gon and Killua (HunterxHunter) has been released.

I'll NEVER going to get tired of these videos, they are great. He just brings to light traits of these two characters I never thought of.
The anime movie adaptation of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood" was released 10 years ago on this very same day.
I don't know how this came into existence... but I am glad it did.

I've seen more of those from those Cringe complimations. I give the guy credit for trying. There's plenty more too (Link to huge list I can't be bothered to make(

I've been watching this and loving the hell out of it.
The doll and puppetry work is phenomenal.
Just finished reading One Outs, well I say finished. There were 7 more "extra" chapters that I honestly couldn't be bothered to read, and I just said it's finished. If anyone enjoys Baseball and Gambling put together, make sure you watch/read it. I'm sure you'll love it.

I also started reading Strongest Man Kurosawa, a manga about a 44 year old man who just wants to be loved by his coworkers and be popular, but every attempt at being a nice guy or doing nice things backfires (For example, he told all his coworkers to stop work to drink beer and take the rest of the day off. Thinking he'd become super popular because of it, he went away to get snacks, and when he came back not a single person drank the beer and thought it was a really weird and cringe worthy gesture. Isolating him more). Even outside his job.

It's a really sad manga that I'm sure a lot of people could relate to or understand. The first chapter starts on his birthday as well, which no one mentions and he spends 3 hours in a crappy restaurant to "celebrate".

Anime wise, I've started to watch Cromartie High School, Black Lagoon and a cool anime from the 80's called "Armour Hunter Mellowlink" which is about a guy who lost his whole squad due to commanders negligence and wants revenge. So the whole show is about a kid with a massive rifle taking out huge Gundam by himself. It's pretty good.
To add onto Kurosawa, he is currently standing up to three pro wrestlers in a suit of armour that he made himself, decked out with spikes, a steel pipe that has nails in it, and a small compartment on there which contains his poop which he has now thrown at the pro wrestlers.

It's good guys, give it a read.

Not much into sad things, but I'll have a look at Kurosawa because Fukumoto Nobuyiki is amazing.

Good taste my dude, Fkmt's suff is amazing, Kaiji, Akagi, Ten and even this. It's all great.

Incidentally, it's not sad as in people dying and characters being affected by it, it's more of a man who wants to be popular with his co workers and gets into some unlucky trouble with high school kids.

Only the first 25 or so chapters are really sad, since it's him trying to act nice to his coworkers and it all backfiring, the rest is pretty much him fighting people for 10 chapters and then resting for 5-7 while another crazy thing occurs.

On an unrelated note, I just found that a certain scene in one of the Berserk movies was outsourced to a Hentai studio to make one specific character look like they were enjoying "it", and basically turned a horrible scene into something quite confusing.
Everyone on the internet seems to be talking about this, so i'll just bring the subject over here in order to know what do you guys think.

Basically, BBC's Stacey Dooley grilled Girls Und Panzer character designer Takeshi Nogami for 3 hours, telling him that his works should be outlawed. A translation of Takeshi's response was done by Twitter user @walterinsect (I'll leave the links for each individual tweet later on)

Quote:"I was interviewed by this lady at my workplace. One-on-one Q&A session for three hours. Through that I realized one most important thing. I was thinking about releasing it online as manga but… The core difference between this interviewer and myself was the attitude towards human being. My position is... “all human beings have “dirty desires”. Isn’t it better to be vented appropriately?”. On the contrary…Ms Susie(sic) stated this. “All human beings are naturally innocent and have no “dirty desires” and reading media...media depicting erotic, pedophilic, and gore contents will affect them to be corrupted”. Then I realized. So the definition of human being, or Operating System(sic) is different. After three hour long interview, this realization was the most productive experience, I think. Oh, on top of that, she said, with a look of a hitman in BLACK LAGOON, “My desire is to put all pedophiles, and ones who produce pedophilic media into jail”. Ah, “Justice” is kinda scary when it infects people. Isn’t she trying to substitute everything into the subject of that sentence? It’s been two times where I was interviewed like this. She ignored me when I said... “Don’t look at us to turn away from your problem within the UK”…. During the interview, we touched upon ways that we can tackle the child abuse issues in Commonwealth world. She said “banning all fictions like this!”. I suggested “Well, solve poverty first. Legalizing fictions that has no victims will lower the crime rate”. She seemed like she didn’t get the idea. It seems that her view is a common one throughout the Commonwealth countries (that’s why you get arrested... for having porn comic in Canada), so objection in words might not help much. It might be better to foster... young, enthusiastic “comrades” within them. Ms Susie(sic) asked me, with formal voice, “Why don’t you Japanese people follow what the UK does?” so I answered... “Why don’t you British people follow Japan, since we’re more civilized, and have lower crime rate than the UK?”. I think the starting line is here."

Personally, I see nothing wrong with the desings of the characters in Girls Und Panzer, they seem pretty generic to me.

Also, does Stacey realizes the purpose of Moe? Is not about sexualizing females, but rather to empashize cuteness.

Oh yeah, Stacey also released a documentary called "Young Sex for Sale in Japan" and needless to say, it's a goddanmed mess. The only good bits of the documentary are two sequences that focuses on actual criminal activities where organized crime is being used to focus on vulnerable girls.

For example, between 1:00 - 1:15 there are some footage of nighttime Tokyo interspersed with shots of various Ecchi manga, Adult AVs, and advertising placards. Of note are: Shots of a AV cover that clearly states that the actress is 18歳 (18 years old), footage of an Idolmaster game, and the cover of a Takeshi Nogami doujin that features 007-like spies using sex to defeat their targets (None of which are depicted as being underage).

She also puts heavy emphasis on the fact that many of this artist are male. Sure, let's just ignore the dozens of dounjinshi/hentai artists that are female, as well as the fact that male characters in japanese media also get sexualised A LOT.

Oh, and the interview mentioned above wasn't featured in the documentary for obvious reasons...

Stuff like that isn't as bad as Strike Witches.

Funny story. I suggested that as a joke for anime society to watch, and it somehow got in. When we were all watching little girls grow cat ears and tails flying around in jet powered feet or whatever in some dramatized WW2 anime and the camera zooming in on crotches, asses and breasts (or lack thereof since they're 11) and finding it a combination of disgusting, hilarious and incredible disturbing I think I heard someone say my full name out loud as I had suggested this on Facebook and thus my name was the one that was there on the suggestion.

EDIT: also, I wonder if this woman is aware that many dounjinshi/hentai artists are female and that male characters in japanese media also get sexualised A LOT.

So basically. this woman is living in the past and thinks that the outfits of characters pushes people to sexual violence and thoughts, instead of their own minds? It's true to a point that we are born innocent, but once sexual urges occur, a lot changes, plain and simple. People seem to forget that a lot, especially these days, when a woman, who for all we know is a feminist. Sexual urges are natural, and these fairly tame outfits are going to have very little impact on anyone, positive or negative. Like you said as well, men are sexualized a lot in Japanese media, even if sometimes, it's in a more joking manner than when it's done with women. I'll tell you what though, even if this woman is not a feminist, she's way off the mark here.
