First of all, it is refreshing to see a YouTube animator who actually pays attention to body movement. That's something you don't see often, given that they are far in between AFAIK.
And second, the idea of animating the famous Shinji's rant is simply genius. Is a shame the full rant wasn't animated.
If I had to guess why then it's because the bastard ran out of ink if you know what I am saying. LOL.
Oh, and the rant itself is an Easter egg on the original DVD release. IIRC you have to mess around with the settings in order for the rant to appear.

I love how they announce this like its a good thing for the fans and they will be happy, instead of a huge audible groan of disappointment. Guess which reaction was more prominent after the announcement.
Robotech is an example of EVERYTHING wrong with western distribution of Anime. Three different shows that had nothing to do with each other -Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA- stitched togheter into the Anime version of Frankenstein's monster (metaphorically speaking).
