Fascinating. I wonder what they could announce during such event. If we assume that the Vento Aureo anime will be announced at this year's Jump Festa, then they will likely announce a videogame at the very least (perphas a remake of the PS2 VA game?). If the Vento Aureo anime doesn't get announced at Jump Festa then this exhibition is the place to do so.
Either way, I'll try to keep my expectations in check in order to avoid any sort of dissapointment.
Well, looks like the Vento Aureo anime wans't announced at this year's Jump Festa. Apparently the only JoJo related thing they talked about was a new phone case and that's about it.
Hopefully they will announce it during the JoJo exhibition that will take place next year.

It's interesting to note that Little Witch Academia takes place in the UK. Glastonbury I believe.
I've been watching it over the last month or so, and I just find it interesting how much detail they've put into this. Small things like making sure pounds are the currency, signs and notes being in English (which actually makes me believe that they're meant to be speaking English, but is in Japanese for Japanese viewers (which is meta in of itself. Watching a Japanese anime in Japanese set in England where the characters are meant to be speaking English))
I mean, it makes a lot of sense when you think about it being influenced by Harry Potter since there would be no other place to set the anime besides the UK. It's also interesting to note that it takes place in 2017 as well.
Here's a screenshot of some football being played.

Pretty sure that's just another example of the "translation convention" trope. It's not really as complicated as you make it out to be.

I wasn't saying it was complicated, I was just saying it was pretty meta for what it was.
Same with MGS3. The entire game is being spoken in Russian, with probably few moments where Americans would talk in English.

Looks like Hirohiko Araki will be the only manga author besides Ozamu Tezuka (Astro Boy, Black Jack, etc) to have an art exhibit take place at the Tokyo National Art Center. That's a huge honor and a well deserved one.
vento aureo anime announcement plz
EDIT: here's some footage of Tezuka praising Araki's debut work which won the Tezuka Award and asking him to come over to Tokyo to produce another work.

I haven't really given a big post in a while, but I'll give some random updates on stuff and tell you guys about my anime society at uni.
Anime wise, I've recently finished Little Witch Academia and an anime called Houseki no Kuni, and I've started Yawara! A fashionable judo girl, Kyou kara Ore wa!! and Irresponsible Captain Tylor.
LWA was very good and much better than I thought it would be. I wanted to watch it initially because it was cute but it was really good and kept me going. I didn't expect it to have an arc by the 2nd season so that was even more interesting. It didn't really have a bad episode, all the characters were interesting and Akko was honestly a perfect main character.
Houseki no Kuni was odd, it was mainly a story about personified gems fighting against an unknown force that appears out of nowhere to try and collect the gems that these personified gems are made of. (It would be the equivalent of an alien race wanting to kill us for our organs) The story revolves around the main character being the weakest of them all and wanting to learn how to fight, but even falling over could shatter them into pieces, and so is assigned to do other things instead, but usually ends up involved in something bigger than they can handle.
I'll basically just steal what I said from Discord into it, since why not.
"So I finished Houseki no Kuni, and personally it was above average but nothing amazing in my eyes. I enjoyed it for what it was, I mean I watched 12 episodes in 3 days or so, I never do that with anime. The premise was unique and Phos was cute and an enjoyable main character, and a lot of the supporting charcacters were interesting and quite humourous at time which kept it quite interesting when nothing was going on. It had great visuals even for CGI, which I looked past by around the third episode when I noticed that their gem hair actually shines on their shoulders and knew they couldn't achieve that with normal animation. The music was pretty good, reminded me of BOTW and was used well. Overall, it was around a 7/10. Nothing amazing, but above average with it's own unique charm that I can see the appeal of. Not sure how I'd improve upon it (maybe giving the story more meaning?), but for what it was it was fine. I didn't hate it by any means btw"
Yawara! is a pretty cute anime and I'm enjoying it so far, the opening is really catchy, and while it's 100+ episodes long, I'm sure I'll be able to force my way through it somehow. Not much I can say on it so far, but I enjoy it. Irresponsible Captain Tylor is kinda iffy, I thought it would be the adventures of a happy go lucky idiot being put in charge of a battleship and then using his idiotic moves to outsmart enemies in battle, which would've been hilarious, but as of now he's not really doing any of that. I'm hoping it improves. Kyou Kara Ore Ha!! is very funny and pretty interesting, it's about two kids who transfer to a new school and pretend to be delinquents, only for real delinquents to try and put them in their place, but through stupidity, luck and underestimation they pull through in the end. Although, each episode is like 40+ minutes, with the first being an hour long.
Manga wise I read and finished both parts of "Gambling Emperor Legend Zero" in under a month. It's a very good manga made by the guy who made Kaiji. It's gambling as per usual but has an emphasis on other characters which makes it quite funny. Zero isn't like Akagi or Kaiji, he's a mix of the two and it's pretty funny to see him be dumbfounded and shocked by random things around him, as well as seeing how smart he is in getting out of situations. Although, it's full of autistic maths. There's like an entire volume dedicated to how one gamble they're in is related to maths, and they're forced to do calculations.
I also read and finished Liar's Game. I found it to be alright, it's a shame since I knew about the manga years before I ever read it, or any gambling related manga. It's been in my bookmarks since 2015 and I never got a chance to read it until recently. It's a shame since it starts out quite well but then has long 50 chapter arcs that aren't very engaging half the time, and I was bored with reading them a lot, only for it to end on a weird cliffhanging like the author was rushed to finish it, which pretty much answered nothing and put everyone back to square one.
Since I've been using my tablet for manga, I've been getting suggestions from the app I use, and I decided to actually read one for no real reason, and I chose Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki which is about a 5'11 girl going out with a 5'3 guy. It wasn't very noteworthy, nothing happened and it wasn't worth the read.
I read another manga called High Score Girl and it was very good. It's still publishing and only has 44 chapters or so, but I really enjoyed it. It's basically about a bratty kid who is only good at vidya and nothing else beating a rich girl who spends all her time at an arcade, only for her to kick him in the head for beating her at Street Fighter, thus starting a cute little love story between the two. The main appeal of this manga for me was the vidya, it's really cool to read about arcades in the 90's, and the different games they play. The love story between the two main characters is quite sweet as well, The main girl never talks and sometimes "grrrrrs" at the main boy when he annoys her, and so the story is mostly told through the boy inferring things about her, and acting upon it. If you really like video games and a cute love story, here it is.
In more FKMT news. I've also begun reading Gin to Kin. Not much I can really say here since by know you must know FKMT's stuff is usually gambling, and you're not wrong. This time it's mostly about politics and business manipulation as well. It's pretty good, but all of his stuff is.
Lastly, I've been reading something called Shirogane no Nina. It's pretty much the story of a 27 year old guy coming back from Tokyo to a small Japanese town and notices a young silver haired, blue eyed girl in his parents house. Upon finding out it's his sisters daughter, he basically spends his time hanging around her and looking after her, showing her how japanese culture works and other japanese things. It's a cute little story and reminds me of Yotsuba in many ways. I'd give it a read if you really enjoyed Yotsuba.
Thanks for reading this far down if you did by the way.

I love Irresponsible Captain Tylor, but man it really has episodes of nothing going on half the time. It has a lot of good payoffs though, you should watch it if you're a fan of the idea of an idiot winning military battles by being lucky and stupid.
The dub is pretty good as well, Misty's VA from Pokemon voices a few main characters, and so does Otacon's from Metal Gear. A lot of famous VA's voice characters. I really enjoy the music too. I've been listening to the OST on and off.

Okay, so today I decided to leave my two cents regarding two specific topics about Dragon Ball.
EDIT: ok, so it looks like my theory about Gohan is way more common that I believed. Still doens't change the fact that there are still many folks who think like the first part of my second paragraph.
From a storytelling standpoint it makes sense for Gohan to not have a drug-like addiction for fighting like his father, simply because having two characters that share too many similarities withim the same story seems uninteresting.
But speaking from a in-universe POV, i've seen many people say that Chi-Chi's strict behaviour is the reason behind Gohan's lack of fighting spirit, and given most mothers want a safe future for their children it makes sense for her to keep him away from fighting.
However, to say Chi-Chi is the only reason about why Gohan isn't really a fighter is innacurate, since there are many event withim the canon that helped to establish this. Traumatic events that ended up being rooted withim Gohan's subconcious.
Gohan on the other hand had five years of normal life, then about seven where super powerful monsters were trying to kill him and everyone he loved, then peace again. That sort of whiplash can mess a person up.
Don't take me wrong, I'm not saying that Son Gohan utterly hates fighting. The examples of Goku and Piccolo,as well as Artificial Human 16s iconic speech showed Gohan that fighting for justice is a noble cause.

- At the young age of 4, Gohan was kidnapped by his own uncle. Sure, he gets rescued shortly after that, but his father died on the process (and with a huge hole on his stomach nonetheless).
- Then some green monster by the name of Piccolo took him away from his family only to leave Gohan alone for six months. After that said green monster puts him in a hell-ish training regime.
- Then the barbaric Saiyan warriors know as Nappa and Vegeta arrive on Earth, and Gohan has to fight them against his will. Suicide bombings (that one Saibaman and Chiaotzu), Ten getting his arm cut off and Piccolo's sacrifice (after being alone with him for so long he started like him) are some of the things Gohan saw with his own very eyes during the battle against the Saiyans.
- Then the Frieza saga happened... oh boy, where should I start? Seeing the massacre on the Namekians, the Ginyu Force, seeing Kuririn getting impaled by Freeza....
- Then we reach the Cell saga and nothing particulary traumatic happens to Gohan, until we reach the fight Gohan had against Cell. It was the first time Gohan actually enjoyed a fight, and how does that end? With his father Goku dying again.

First of all, let's start with that one fragment from the Saiyan Special Q&A that started it all.
Caulifla is the only U6 Saiyan who transformed using the "back-tingling" method, and I wouldn't be surprised if we found out she was a hybrid later on. Either way, she inherited a high number of S-Cells, so at least now we have an explanation of why it came so easily to her (+ she's known as a prodigy!). But Cabba and Kale both needed a trigger in order to transform.
See? The S-Cells don't really change anything about the SS transformation.
Be really "pure," be really strong, get mad. The science behind it (see what I did there?) is still the same.
Gohan, Goten, and Trunks were all naturally really strong, and they are pure of heart (the first two were seen riding on the Nimbus), so they achieved Super Saiyan -- which is on itself, a biological quirk of a race of aliens, rather than a force of nature like Ki.
Quote:Q: Do Saiyans train to fight? As you can see, not only this article mentions that being gentle is a great way to increase S-Cells, but things such as a high battle power and inheritance (which probaly amounts to the same thing if we consider Trunks and Goten).
A: Most Saiyans are born with a talent for battle, but they still need to be taught the trick behind flying and stuff like that. Of course, some kids manage to fly even without being taught. In Goku’s case, he was on Earth where people flying was simply unheard of, so he was pretty slow to learn it. Only a select few Saiyan children receive a short period of special training in order to acquire even greater battle power.
Q: Can anyone become a Super Saiyan if they train?
A: It’s not like anyone can become a Super Saiyan through training and anger. In order to become a Super Saiyan, one’s body must contain something called “S-Cells”.2 Once these S-Cells reach a certain amount, a trigger such as anger will explosively increase the S-Cells and cause a change in the body; that’s Super Saiyan. Most Saiyans have some S-Cells, although not a great quantity. The reason why Goku and Vegeta’s children can become Super Saiyan relatively easily is probably because to a certain extent they inherited a lot of S-Cells, and also because Earth’s environment is gentler and easier to live in than Planet Vegeta.
[Tori-bot] “Lately everyone becomes Super Saiyan so easily, but it is no simple matter.”
↓ And how does one increase S-Cells to become Super Saiyan?
A: Having a gentle spirit is the best way to greatly increase one’s S-Cells, but most Saiyans have trouble with this, which I think is why no Super Saiyans appeared for such a long time that they became the stuff of legend. However, one can’t reach the quantity necessary for becoming a Super Saiyan simply by having a gentle spirit, so a certain amount of battle power is indeed necessary. Looked at in this light, it’s easy to see why becoming a Super Saiyan came easy for Goku.
[Goten picture] “He was able to easily become Super Saiyan thanks to inheriting lots of S-Cells!”
[Goku picture] “A gentle heart + high battle power resulted in Super Saiyan!!”

Man, you know what's even WORSE that Dragon Ball Z's "ON THE NEXT EPISODE".
When a show LITERALLY has the title of the episode be a spoiler.
I was watching Nadia, and on episode 21 some pretty serious shit happened and I wanted to watch 23 afterwards, and as I finished the intro the title of the episode came up SPOILING WHAT WOULD OCCUR IN THE EPISODE. It's like if in this episode Nadia died, and they called it "NADIA'S DEATH" that is the LITERAL same way they called this episode.
So when it finally got to the spoiler, it was barely a surprise. You knew it was about to happen. Although they redeemed themselves by explaining a lot more in the episode.
