OKay, reviving this thread with some news.
Just when I thought Skull Girls and the next KoF were the only fighters missing from my collection, they announce a new crossover fighting game. The current (Japanese) name of the game is Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax and it's being developed by Sega and ASCII Media Works. Currently only two characters have been announced through a very short gameplay teaser and they are Asuna from Sword Art Online and Shana from Shakugan no Shana. It appears they were fighting in a stage based on Sega's Valkyria Chronicles.
Next, there is a new Soul Calibur coming up. The subtitle of the game is Lost Swords and it will be free-to-play.
Now, I'm usually not all too into the whole format of free-to-play games but Tekken Revolution and Killer Instinct seem to be doing fine so who knows.
Speaking of KI, the new female character was finally properly introduced, in addition to yet another chracter... See the trailer below.
I was until you said free to play. Dang it, Soul 5 was craptastic and I demand a redo!

Well Namco have this bullshit idea of Free2Play. Which I hate. Tekken Revolution sucks because it, Jojos is now a failed game in Japan because of it(as well as others such as running at 30FPS) and Tekken Card Tournament sucks because of it.
Free2Play, keep that shit on Facebook and with Farmville.
Nothing worse than playing Tekken only to be told you can only play 3 times an hour.
So I bought Super Street Fighter 2 for Wii U's VC. I just confirmed that the only fighting game I'm really good at is the Super Smash Bros series, because the combos and special moves are simple and easy to pull off. Other Fighting games like Street Fighter 2, and Soulcalibur, requires you to pull off a string of button pressing and control stick moving, just so you can pull off the special move, and it just has too much of a learning curve that casual players wouldn't enjoy it as much as others.
Specials are easy. Actual combos are harder to learn.
Oh, hey! Look what I found. Persona 4 Arena is getting a sequel!

Fair enough. Granted the Wii U doesn't have a fight/arcade stick so I wouldn't even want to try playing on the Wii/U controllers. That being said, Smash Bros does have a high learning curve when it comes to it's core mechanics such as wave dashing and juggles.

Yeah. I saw that post last month on Eventhubs and was pretty pissed. Atlus being the shitty company that they are only released P4: Arena in Europe recently, well over a year after Japan and America. So as soon as we got it, they announce the sequel.
As harsh as it sounds, fuck Atlus anyway. If they ever wonder why they went out of business and had to be brought by SEGA? It's because they're the Japanese equivalent of EA. Can make awesome games with crappy business decisions.

Really, it's not the controller that's giving me a hard time, but trying to do the moves themselves, like you have to move the stick a certain way while also pressing a button. Like you had to move the controller stick down, then move it right, then press a button, to do a hadouken. At least that's how I think it works, or was I supposed to press the button as I move the controller stick?
Also, when was wave dashing a "core" mechanic? I understand it's when you dodge, and dodging is a bit important in games like this. But I never look into wave dashing as important and as just a feature that just happened to be there.

Basically, you have a few frames into the motion, Down/DownForward/Forward + (any) punch. The older Street Fighter games have less leniency. In SF4 you can essentially mash all over the place and still do a Dragon Punch, but if you're not 90% perfect on your input for a Shoryuken, it won't come out. Wii U controller really isn't the best for those types of games or at least, it takes a long time to adjust to the non-conventional control system which limits you in multiple areas.
Also, yeah I'd have to rephrase. Not really a core mechanic but does give an advantage for mobility and hard to read. Same as ledge guarding; learn how to get that down and it's a big advantage.
I don't know, I'm still hyped for SC. I've been a fan since the start, although I really dislike number 5. They literally took away all the characters I used. Maybe this one will be alright. Isn't there also supposed to be an HD of SC2 coming out at some time? If so, I'd really like to see it.
Anyone wanna play Project M?
There was just talk about fighting game re-releases
on the free gaming thread and then I stumble upon this.
Seems like Persona 4 Arena is getting a re-release too. Good thing I didn't buy the first version yet :D Now I'll just wait till this comes out.
I'd care about that game but being in Europe, it's pointless. The way Atlus treat Europe doesn't warrant me giving them my money. We finally get Person 4: Arena in Europe(well over a year after Japan and America) to the point that it was completely dead on launch with other parts of the world already having a huge competitive advantage. But as soon as we got it, they announce this.
Sorry to rant but Atlus really is a shit company.

Yup, Adachi is getting added to the game. I really like the play style of the game its reminds me of the older mortal kombats.
